Smitty's Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Elon

I had heard that Smitty's was a great place to get ice cream so we drove from Railiegh after a meeting just to have ice cream. We looked on Google and it said they closed at 11:00pm and we got there around 9:55. There were people in the parlor and lots of workers. The young girl behind the register was pretty rude and short. The mop bucket was up next to the ice cream and filthy. We went to sit down and another lady came to us and said we closed at 10:00pm. I explained we had come from Raleigh to get ice cream and online and on the door it said 11:00pm. She stated that was when school was in sessions. She also told us there was plenty of seats outside. These two ladies seemed very aggravated we were there and the young girl said she had to count the register again and seemed very ticked off. I am very disappointed. It was a beautiful young lady behind the counter today that had ok customer service. We walked in as she was sitting behind the counter, some other employees made eye contact but didn’t welcome us verbally to the establishment. Upon ordering, I noticed the young lady was adjusting her shorts, touching her legs and then handling utensils and touching the waffle cone to see if it was ready. That was a huge turnoff. I’d love to coach businesses in the area on customer service and things they could improve to boost sales. The ice cream was good, but it didn’t have what we came for which is showing on their menu. They were out of many items or no longer sold them…. Would I recommend, maybe. If you’re in the area and there’s NO place else to get ice cream and sit outside to eat it and enjoy...

This Elon location is also a part of the Pandora's Pies next door. It has a nice section inside. It's good ice cream. I went for the Cookie monster ice cream as it is a limited time flavor. Meaning it's only available randomly. It is delicious. It's blue & contains Oreos and soft crushed cookie pieces. I placed it inside a waffle cone which they make themselves. I wish I had gotten a large instead of the small and the small was 2.5 scoops which was a pretty good size. I will be back when the Cookie Monster ice cream returns, hopefully soon with a...
