Going downhill, such a shame 😔 I am highly disappointed to have to post this review. However today this restaurant manager crossed the line by threatening to call the police. Heres what happened - I order 2 Lake Perch dinners. The young lady that took my order said "ok, 20 mins and hung up". I assume they are busy since she did not read my order back. Mind you I order here regularly, at least 2-3 a month, the same dinners. I am very familiar with them. The order was not correct when my husband picked it up. (4-5 times now, I and never complained before). Today was the 2nd time I called. First time I called to let them know my order was wrong but I asked for nothing...just a heads up to them. So today, I called and tried to talk with "the manager" I was a little upset on the phone trying to explain myself and because I said "dam" on the phone the manager hung up on me. Never once apologizing. I drove 20 mins back (By then I'm thinking I'll just take the apology and a refund for my dinner, my husband loves this place and I'm new to the area). "The manager" ends up being a very young girl with absolutely NO customer service skills. Who advised me she was a college graduate, seriously, did that need to be said at all, when I there about MY poor experience? I explained again my disappointment in my order being wrong, fully expecting and apology first and a remedy to my problem. Nope..I was floored!! In what service industry do you "Not" apology. Keep in mind I was Not yelling, I was Not disrespectful and I was even joking with the 6 others patrons waiting by the door about how the world is changing..young people not paying attention etc. (before the manager ever came out). So my temperament was not negative or mean when the young lady finally appeared from the back. The phone rings and "the manager" claims it's the owner on the phone and they are going to call the police if I don't take the refund and leave. Who does that!! I told them go ahead call the police, I have done nothing wrong and I will not be bullied. I am choosing spending my hard earned money here and trying to help a family owned business by being a patron. The person on the phone must have told " the manager" to apologize because she did in the snotiest, most disrespectful way possible. That's all I wanted, was to be acknowledged for the inconvenience they caused me. I accepted my hard earned money back and I now have to find my dinner elsewhere. If it made "the manger" feel good to be so demeaning to me, then we have failed as people. That behavior right there is why McDonald's, Dominos pizza and so many other corp. companies made it through the pandemic. They kept their standards high because without MY money, You don't get to stay in business. I'm sure this restaurant will do nothing to correct the problems they have. I'm sure Elyria will bring in more chain food and corp. ran restaurants as people like me will stop accepting low standards from theses "mom & pop shops" and go to those places where service is friendly and the order is correct. It just sickens me to post this but threatening me with the police was the straw that broke the camel's back. Good luck with your future as MY friends and family will not be...
Read moreWent on Easter Sunday for lunch with three very close friends after attending Sunday mass. Waitress Jessica H was our server. We were concerned immediately when she arrived at our table, she had no kind personality and seemed almost hungover. Hair was messy, clothes didn't seem appropriate and her overall demeanor was lacking, for sure.
After we got our food and aside from my buddies toast missing, he kindly told her it was and she made a snarky comment about him reminding her that he had ordered it.
Fast forward to us eating. I ate one piece of my toast and my sausage patty that I then realized was covered in uncooked egg (SNOT like substance). It would have been nice if she would have checked in with us but she never did until the other three friends finished their meals. So we sat there for a good 20 minutes and she never asked us how things were, no refills etc.
She asked me if I wanted a box and I kindly showed her the uncooked egg that was also touching all my other food along with the very under-cooked potato', that we requested to be crunchy. They were crunchy because they weren't even cooked all the way (raw potato). When I declined to have more food made (no one wants to eat at a table of 4 when everyone else is finished, she then said with attitude "well I'll be sure to take the eggs off of your bill").
I calmly explained to her that this immediate decision was odd seems how she was holding an entire plate of food with only a sausage patty and one piece of toast, missing from the plate. She said okay to the request of removing the entire bill.
When we received the check, we noticed only $1.98 was taken off and no apology. Brought it up to the assistant manager who ALSO offered no apology but then removed the items off the check after calmly explaining the situation.
During this visit, we were all polite, calm spoken and compliant with the decorum one should have when dining out. I highly recommend some retraining or possibly taking this waitress and having her work in the kitchen instead.
Horrible experience all around and to boot on Easter Sunday when we were all in our best...

In Lorain County, this locally-owned casual family diner has two (2) locations, just off I-90, north on Route 58 at 917 N Leavitt Road in Amherst, & this location just east of Route 57 in Elyria. I’ve grown up with Blue Sky Restaurants. You might think that I’m biased, but I’m not. I was never a big fan of the Amherst location. However, my new appreciation for the Elyria spot has me curious to give Amherst another try. Both locations have plenty of parking.
First, the meals are generous. The cold sides are always fresh; I usually go with a salad. The hot sides are great, especially the cream of potato soup, so delish. The dish-ware lends itself to perfect serving sizes, not too little, & if you eat slowly, enjoy, then you may savor each bite or even save some for later. We tried the eggplant parmigiana, which was tasty thick noodles with breaded medallions. We agreed that it was better than most but maybe needed more mozzarella cheese. We also ordered the chicken paprikash, which was homemade with rich, flavorful amber sauce that just looked yummy & pieces of real chicken breast cooked to perfection with great twisted spaetzle. The presentation of the food was so appetizing that we dove in & started eating before we had a chance to snap a couple photos of the deliciousness before us.
Marissa’s service was on point. She was great at outlining the daily specials, soupe du jour, & pie/dessert selections. Prices are definitely reasonable for the entrees provided with cold & warm sides. She checked in on us often, & the food was timely delivered with the right temperature. Many pros, we could not come up with any cons. Full disclosure, we have tried breakfast, lunch, & dinner at this location, & we have yet to be disappointed, a return visit is highly probable - with pictures...
