I really wish I could give this place a better rating since the staff was great and the artistry is absolutely amazing!! However, I have to base my rating on the quality of the food. As a sushi and sashimi connoisseur that spends a lot of time in Japan every year eating at some of the best sushi restaurants in the country including right at the source at Tsukiji market, I know what the various types of fish are supposed to taste like. What I received with three different rolls was definitely not fresh. The fish was warm and tasted off. Especially the salmon, which had definitely been sitting out too long. I also had Maguro, which was slightly off color and also tasted off. The only thing that tasted normal was the Hamachi and the Maguro that was on the outside of the roll. It almost seemed like they used whatever was left from the day(s) before inside the rolls to hide it and used the fresher fish on the outside and for their Sashimi. In hindsight, I should have skipped the rolls and just ordered Sashimi. Disappointing since I had high hopes for this place given the many good reviews. I will however compliment the Chef again for the art. Better than anything I have ever seen anywhere else...
Read moreCompletely underwhelmed and disappointed by this place! I’ve been a few times now and there always something wrong. It’s the closest place to where I live so it’s convenient but would never recommend this place to anyone and I don’t think I will be returning either. The appetizers are usually okay. I ordered gyoza one time and it came out green and when I ordered chicken karaage, it was over-fried and just gristly or one time it came out as bone-in chicken wings. The service is usually terrible. If they ever have a big table, just expect to be forgotten. I ordered two rolls and it took over 30 minutes to receive them. The rolls, I ordered were poorly put together, fell apart just touching them and the yellowtail in the KYU roll was super slimy and had a terrible old fish taste. The volcano roll was also awful and the shrimp tempura had a tiny little bit of shrimp on it. Most of the bites had only the fried bit left and a hole where the shrimp should/used to be. Would not recommend this place to anyone that...
Read moreAmazing!!! Happy hour deals are Only $5 for full orders of many types of sushi! All the food here is truly a delicious work of art. Kyu2 takes sushi up to its highest, best level and with outdoor seating, a nicely decorated interior with secluded tables and bar side seating (all areas spotlessly clean) they have what you want for quiet get together or after work drinks and meals with your friends. The staff are friendly and very helpful. (I even noticed a waitress hugging a regular female customer as a greeting.) I talked with Chef Nui and felt his passion for doing it all the right way and "using his heart" to make his food/art creations (like the dragon artwork sushi I posted a photo of).
