Lovely little gem tucked in the strip in Emmaus. Went for a family dinner. Most of us ordered the lamb gyros, some as the combo, some not. The rice was tasty, so was the tomato cucumber salad. Especially decadent speciality drinks and the fries were crisp and nicely seasoned. It is a small restaurant but the service was almost immediate even though they were busy and staff were all very attentive, friendly, and polite. The atmosphere is very intimate, as people are seated closely, but it was actually enjoyable because of the staff and good food. Reasonably priced. Absolutely worth visiting again.
Edit for visit on 9/16/2023:
We sat outside initially then realized that staff was probably busy with the constant stream of to go customers that kept coming, so we went inside and were attended to immediately with apologies on the wait. They said they did not have the soup - but when they actually discovered still had some soup - and they served it to me and didn’t charge me. It was absolutely delicious- and I feel like they are busy but still very personable and they got our food out very quickly once we sat inside. Everything was fresh, hot, and tasted awesome. Worth considering that they might have less staff available to go outside while fielding all of the to go orders. I saw another review on here that seemed very angry about the wait outside but would say that it’s only fair to be understanding of their situation as well and in my experience letting that color your whole experience is just missing out on the good stuff...
Read moreMy wife and I visited today, after having some friends talk about how this is in their regular rotation. We left being pleased with the choice, and we will be here again.
Don't let the strip mall location, or the neon-style signs at the entrance deter you. Cozy. Not big. Also, only open until 8 pm - not late.
We started with the hummus and lamb appetizer. Creamy hummus with a smooth taste. Chipped lamb was flavorful, and added texture. With it came warmed pita triangles, and also savory, crispy, pita chips. We ordered this, before realizing that many of the main dishes also come with a side of hummus. For us, that was fine, but I could see how that might be a bit redundant.
For the main course, we each ordered a kebab plate - she had chicken, and I had lamb. The marinade was also savory for both. The meat is thin, and a bit dry, but still good. Lots of rice. The veggies were still pretty crisp - peppers (yellow, green, and orange), and onions.
I finished my meal with a piece of the pistachio baklava. First time with pistachio. I like it better than the walnut.
They appear to also offer a range of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. And, coffee seems to be a big part of what they...
Read moreFirst, let me state that I absolutely love True Blue. I have been a faithful customer since the opening of the Emmaus location. My experience this past Tuesday was much less than stellar. I am employed in the Emmaus strip mall, and, it was so hot & humid Tuesday night and I wanted a light dinner for my 30 minute break. I have the True Blue menu which advertises Take-Out. I called ahead and ordered the Falafel Patty apps, which is normally served over lettuce/greek salad with pita chips and sauce for $ 5.99 When I picked up my order, I was charged $ 5.99 + tax; there were 4 falafel patties in a styrofoam container, which had adhered itself to the patties; when I asked about the salad, the young lady said the order was correct, if I wanted the salad it was an additional $ 1.50. I didn't have time to press my point, however the menu clearly states the obvious. Imagine my surprise when I opened the bag ... no utensils whatsoever. The lovely $ 1.50 additional salad was rendered inedible. Pretty tough to eat cucumbers/tomatoes in dressing with one's fingers. Needless to say, I was MORE than disappointed. For these reasons, my rating is 2 stars. I would expect take out to be the same high quality as...
