I cannot recommend this diner more highly. My husband and I frequent all the local diners a lot (we actually met in a diner) I'm pretty particular about my food, especially from a diner, there's only a few great ones around. This one is no exception honestly, we've only been here a few times and it's already my new favorite. Classic diner vibe, but this place is REALLY REALLY clean, you won't find sticky tables, crumbs on the floors, hell you can't even find fingerprints on the large glass doors. The key room for any diner is the bathroom and it's absolutely pristine, the finishing touch for me, is the fresh flowers on the vanity, it's a personal touch that I really appreciate and it shows they care. Ok, the food, the important part, it's REALLY AMAZING, like actually amazing. The pulled pork is tender and flavorful, the burgers are Flame broiled and the soup is some of the best I've had. The only thing I've had I have not liked was the open face roast beef but literally everything else has been mostly homemade, made with love and care and you're given really ample portions, especially for the price. My cup of coffee never goes empty thanks to the ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE WAIT STAFF! These ladies and men are some of the best I've encountered, seriously. They are genuine and pleasant, I truly feel like they care about their customers and their service, that's a rare find these days. The owner has been there every time we've been there, he cares, it's very Apparent by the quality of the food, the wonderful service and the sqeaky clean atmosphere. Which reminds me... TIPS ARE NOT OPTIONAL, if you go out to dinner and are waited on, TIP THEM, 15% is minimum... minimum. Unless they are the worst server (even then you still leave something) , they're is no excuse, these people work hard, TIP THEM!. I cannot believe how many people think it's acceptable not to tip. This is always been the standard, nothing has changed except people thinking it's suddenly optional. With that said, I cannot recommend East Penn more highly, you'll receive amazing service, an excellent meal at a great price and the dessert is...
Read moreI had what was literally the worst dining experience of my life at this diner last evening / early this morning. My expectations of late night dining are never very high as I work in the restaurant industry so I'm aware that there are usually few employees taking care of however many guests happen to come in. It was not busy by any means when my friend and I entered, there were maybe 4-5 tables of two. The server greeted us in a non-friendly manner. I was delivered a Pepsi that had practically no syrup in it and had to wait 15 minutes for a new one. We ordered breakfast and a bowl of french onion soup. Our server never wrote down our order. About 30 minutes later the server walked out with the wrong food, back into the kitchen, and then returned with the french onion soup which looked like it was sitting in the window for at least 10 minutes - cheese was burnt. We then heard the table behind us get their food and the gentleman said "well it's about time, we were about to go in there and get it ourselves." Clearly we were not the only ones who were unsatisfied. She then delivered ONE of our orders. 10 minutes later delivered the other meal (half cold) and apologized for the mistake, letting us know the meal would be "on her." After we ate, she delivered our check which still had both meals and the soup on it, and explained she was "unable to pay for the meal," but suggested we just not tip her.
This place needs a better late night server, as this one clearly cannot handle her own. Also, don't EVER walk up to a table and take their order without writing it down and then screw it up. If she would've taken the two seconds to write everything down (even though it was two orders and a soup), I'm sure this horrid experience could've been avoided. If I could give zero stars, I would. Worst service of all time, and I will...
Read moreOne of Best Iconic East Coast Run Diners in the USA. Friendly staff and owners. Delicious food, well priced, still has Open Salad Bar and choice of 4 delicious homemade soups. Very pleasing Blue Atmosphere inside & just a fun place to hang out with friends and family. In 2013, interior was overall into a beautiful newer inside Diner and in November 2024, I can attest it remains a beautiful Diner. Moderneruze inside but yet still feels like the Iconic Diner of the 50s. I wish we had a diner with this reputation in our current state of Missouri.
We met our Emmaus Nephew for dinner my eyes were larger than my stomach ended up taking my whole meal home as my one trip to salad bar with my large bowl of soup I was full.
Super clean inside, meals always cook to perfection so compliments to their short order Cooks!!! It's a must place to visit when in the Lehigh Valley Allentown Area you will not be disappointed. No what what meal you go for you will not be disappointed! They are open 24/7. Nowadays they now have TVs in their back dining room that is new to us. Our young man server was excellent, extremely attentive to our needs for refills and always making sure we were satisfied. We made sure he knew we appreciated his services I wish I knew his name to give him credit on this review hopefully the owners will comment. We were there at 515 pm tonight Party of 3 and I know they know my nephew well they called him name being he and his dad are regulars 😉.
