Food is very good, not excellent, but the menu and ambience are great and unique. There are several whimsical elements in their theme that are fun. I will absolutely go back. We had discovered this place while in Solana Beach and enjoyed its proximity to the beach. The menu has many healthy twists on various breakfast dishes but you can still have some traditional breakfast treats. We enjoyed the green heart quesadilla and also enjoyed a slice of coconut french toast. They have vegan sausage and/or traditional bacon - your choice. The fruit salad would have been excellent but the Honey Dew melon was the crunchiest melon we'd ever had and not surprisingly had very little flavor. The coffee was surprisingly bitter, not overpoweringly so but noticeable. We love and drink dark roast normally so we were surprised at this component of the flavor profile. Our server was very good and made several extra efforts to make sure we were happy. We enjoyed it and, as I said,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wish I could write a positive review for this restaurant, because the food and service were actually pretty good. However, my experience ended up being pretty bad in the end. I brought my 1 year old daughter in to eat breakfast with me this morning. I understand children can be loud, but that doesn't excuse extremely inappropriate and rude comments made by staff. Keep in mind it was an empty dining room and she wasn't being that loud, just normal baby noises. No crying or screaming. The protective father in me really had to keep a calm head. This is definitely not a family establishment and needless to say I would not recommend bringing...

I've heard from a restaurant worker since the pandemic started. I stopped my group, who'd walked up ahead of me, and said, "We're eating here".
The menu was a perfect balance of things I was familiar with and foods I'd yet to have tried before. I couldn't make up my mind and asked for a recommendation and our server asked the right questions to help narrow my choices.
I enjoyed the food. It wasn't too heavy and was just satisfying enough to let me feel like I could finish my day without needing a nap after eating there.
Between the food, drinks and excellent service...I will definitely be eating at The...
