It's a chain, with a great product but this store is well managed, the people are well trained, the management remembers what you want and even your name if you are a regular. Peet's seems to be the go to spot for the local professionals, with a mix of people on the way to work, well dressed, and some older folk who are reading actual newspapers and are of a "certain age" .... it's pet friendly outside with enough seating, great wireless connections and everything is fresh. The vibe I get from the baristas is that they are into the craft. There's no one that looks like they are just punching a clock, all motivated to deliver and that's refreshing so close to the beach, given the local work ethic. All i see here is flawless execution, great engagement, and lots of return clients in line. It's in a shopping center next to Trader Joe's so expect to see a lot of fit, pretty people here mixed in with professionals and people on the way to/from working out. Since there is so much competition here in Encinitas, they are the go to place on El Camino Real, beating out the other chains in...
Read moreI want to give Peet's 5 stars, but can't because the manager of the store is an arrogant person whose attitude permeates the execution of employees. Why is it that three employees behind the counter become one when a line forms. Two employees run for the back room, leaving one person to make coffee, grind beans, serve the growing line and generally become the General Manager. My solution to solve what would normally cause me to buy my coffee beans elsewhere is to shop in the store when two mistakes the manager made are working and understand customers keep the store doors open. The two manager mistakes open the store at sun-up. When I come into the store, one employee immediately waits on me and the second starts grinding my beans. BTW, the new store's design, in my opinion, continues the anti-customer attitude. The focus of the store is confused, cold and easy to clean...not the intended place people...
Read morePeet's Coffee is the best! One star off on food because they discontinued the absolute best all-time scone, the lemon poppy seed scone, it had true scone texture and great flavor and was not slathered in icing. Unfortunately the remaining scones at least for me are all too sweet, chewy/doughy or too much icing, but friends who like things really sweet still love them. A little tiny feta and egg white quiche is surprisingly healthy and tasty if you like savory. They croissants are delicious, but pretty high cow and sweet for those of us watching calories. But it's all about the coffee, and Peet's Coffee is outstanding. Service is always great too, very friendly and the Baristas get to know you very quickly. It's my go-to coffee place...
