This place has a great hole in the wall feel that makes it feel more authentic than the chains.
Service here is super friendly and down to earth.
The food here left a little to be desired in terms of quality. I ordered the Iskender Kabob, and I liked it ok. The sauces used were very tasty and seemed authentic. The menu advertised the pita as being grilled, and my bread didn’t have any grill marks or toasting on it, so that was a little sad. Also- when it comes to a place like this, I would like to see home made bread or high quality bread. This one seems like it was the wonder bread of the available store bought pita. Might just be me... Portions for the Iskender were very good though!
My wife got the Bosphorus platter for 1. The menu says it comes with ‘falafel’ and I should have taken this literally because only one falafel came with it. I would have hoped it would have maybe 2-3 of them since they aren’t super big? Same goes with the Dolma, which was amazing by the way, my wife is Persian and she loved it, but they only gave us one little very tasty dolma.
On that platter, They get points for adding a lot of hummus( very tasty and rich hummus).
Overall - cute place, good people, value for what we bought today wasn’t quite up to our...
Read moreHave passed by this place for years and finally stopped in for lunch. We ordered the 2 person sultans platter and the hummus appetizer with cucumbers. Oh my, the sultans dish was enormous! Delicious, we wolfed down the flavorful lamb, beef, gyro meat & chicken. It was served on a bed of perfectly cooked long grain rice with lettuce, tomato, red onion & pita bread. It was very good, we had enough to take home for another meal each, so when you order the sultan's platter, come hungry, it's A LOT of meat. The hummus platter was my favorite because of the Hungarian paprika, it was so pungent, fresh and wonderful, now I know why it's such a popular spice. Store brand does not compare. I also really enjoyed the bread that came with the hummus appetizer, it was warm, chewy and fresh. I hardly eat bread anymore, but I always make an exception for fresh warm chewy pita! I'm so glad we stopped in today, the owner was a lovely man and very kind & attentive. The orange tea was very good, so was the Turkish coffee. Do yourself a favor and stop in, the food is worth it! We didn't have time to photograph our food because it looked and...
Read moreSuch a charming restaurant. I needed to kill a little time in the area, and it was a blustery, knock-you-down windy day. I wanted a good cup of tea, really, and I am always skeptical of large coffee chains, they never get it right. I saw good reviews for this place, and thought I could grab a light lunch too. I hadn't had a decent baklava since moving from London, anyway. I got the Bosphorus platter for one, some baklava & 3 (!) cups of tea. So fresh, just what I wanted! Big salad, plenty of hummus & pita bread, I could eat a million of those falafel ( I should have added another), a tasty grape leaf roll, olive, tomato, red onion. I don't know where they got the feta, maybe they make it in house, but it was super fresh & I could certainly stand a bit more in the salad! The bomb honest. The baklava was crispy & dense, just like it should be. Most of what I've had lately is greasy & lacking freshness & oomph. This was perfect, hence the extra cup of tea! Definitely recommend this place, what a treat & such a change of pace from...
