My two children and I have been homeless since 2023. We've lived in a car, hotels, couch surfing, two emergency shelters, and two other extended stay shelters. We are escaping a DV situation. This 90 day shelter has been the most healing, safe, and comfortable place since our own family home. All of the staff, including the interns, are so intuitive, kind, respectful, and caring. The women who lead the staff team are incredible people with so much patience and wisdom. Even in the face of dramatic or escalated situations, (which is common in communal living but very rarely occured at this shelter) they handled the dignity and safety of everyone in the home with the utmost concern and quick acting control. Having our needs continually met while our independence and dignity were honored was just what we needed to recover our energy, regulate our nervous systems, get all our documents up to date, and plan for the future. The work they put into case management and providing extra supports is consistent and thorough. I feel like they hold the balance of shared living spaces vs privacy of the residents very well. The rooms and ammenities were sanitary, comfortable, cozy, and very safe. We felt so nourished there. We were able to quickly and gently transition to another extended stay shelter a couple of weeks before our exit date thanks to their excelent case management.Thank you wonderful team at House of Hope. But what made me give this place a 1 is the people who live there. Nobody cleans up after themselves or their kids. Dining area is always a mess and people donāt throw their own trash! Everyone seems entitled if you ask me! Itās like they donāt care about the place so they just mess it up and leave it for someone else to clean up! Some of the women there concentrate on other people more than their own kids! Lying to get people in trouble and making accusations and starting Drama within the facility instead of giving their kids a shower!
Nobody cares to keep the place clean or even wash their own dishes! Which makes the place look like a run-down motel.
If it were up to me there should be a rule that if nobody bothers to clean up after themselves or their kids then they should be kicked out!
Somebody that was there was on their TOM and somehow left the toilet and shower filled with DNA and it was absolutely disturbing and disgusting! I donāt know why people would do that when thereās a bunch of kids in the place it makes absolutely no sense at all.
So I guess the best thing about the place is the staff. The tenants I guess are just ridiculously...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I needed a place to go with my family, they opened the doors to this beautiful home, how others treat the place is ridiculous especially because they provide so much to those in need. My family came from another state and were put in a dangerous position, no other places were available besides a ran down Super 8. When I received a call back I was told all I had to do was pass a Covid test to move in, within a few days my family had shelter and any other source of help provided. Living there made me realize that no matter where you come from or how you got there, you can get back up! give this place a chance and be grateful for them, clean behind you and your children for the next family and respect the staff, they are kind and actually have hearts for...
