Read morePizza is the most popular food in America, hence there are establishments on almost every block, but in NY and NJ pizza is an art. The creativity is endless. Being a pizza aficionado I am constantly searching out new and different pizza restaurants to be wowed by the all elusive "Taste". It is commonly known or at least should be that the dough is the star of the show. Wahizza has good dough it is high gluten flour thus making it light and their dough recipe is tasty. Their combinations were way out of the box than just the standards. What caught my eye immediately was Oxtail Pizza. I have never before saw that as an offering and one of my favorite meats. Here is where things start to go sideways: They offer 2 sizes 10"(personal) and 14" which according to the mgr. was enough for 2 people. I ordered the 14" because I was sharing it with a friend. It was good tasting but the slices were small and the oxtail was sparsely spreadout and were minute pieces the size of an M&M . The cost was $32. It was appalling to charge that much for what they presented. Pizza is the biggest profit margin restaurant food. That is very well known, and my brother from another mother owns the most sought out pizza restaurant in the 5 Boroughs in NYC that has won numerous awards, contests, accolades and has daily lines down the block to get served. He has educated me to the costs of making pizza. An 18" pizza at establishments far better than Wahizza is less costly. Wahizza has other locations and common sense says they should or do buy big bulk shipments of flour and other key ingredients for cost saving. Their offerings we tried (3) were good far from extraordinary, but at those prices and the miniscule sizing and meager coverage of ingredients you are longing for and PAYING FOR, you will walk away incredibly disappointed in a myriad of ways. I was there for lunch and they were empty. I did have the opportunity to talk with the mgr Kenny who was gracious and knowledgeable but so am I. I cannot recommend this place because the let downs were in my opinion taking advantage of the customer rather than embracing them. This new location has only been open 10 days. They might want to rethink their pricing structure or at least offer a...
Read moreWe saw the gluten free option on the menu from outside the restaurant and wanted to check out the Wash Heights Gluten Free Impossible Chimi Pizza.
We asked a few times about a the Gluten Free Chimi Pizza. We were served gluten free toppings on a regular crust. What? We STILL do not understand why there are gluten free options on a menu ...that have Gluten! The manager found out from the server and did not even come over to apologize or explain what happened. And no, the location was not so busy that he could not take a few minutes to come over and explain how we were poisoned.
Very disappointed. I wanted to recommend this place to people but I cannot because while the food may be tasty, it is not safe and they do not care about every customer that comes in.
Poisoning someone who cannot have Gluten because of Celiac Disease or an extreme Gluten sensitivity that will make them sick for days is serious. More serious than making a few extra dollars off of a customer. Please do better. For your future customers...
