One River School of Art + Design — Attraction in Englewood

I can’t say enough great things about One River Englewood and the teachers/people who work there.

My son loves art and drawing and I had been looking for somewhere to bring him for art classes. My friend suggested we try out One River, and since we hadn’t heard of it before, we called and asked if my son would be able try out a class. They scheduled a class for us a few days later! He is a little on the shy side, so he was nervous to go… but from the moment we walked in the door, we immediately felt welcomed into a warm and friendly environment.

From the first class, my son loved his teacher Miss Erica. We signed up immediately after that first class. He’s also taken classes with Miss Shannon, who he also adores! They’re both so encouraging, kind, and he’s learned so much. He’s in the Art Shuffle class which we love since it exposes him to so many types of media. He’s grown so much as an artist in the seven months we’ve been there.

I also need to mention the amazing people who work there, including the owners Shannon and Shayla, Valentina who is there the days my son has class, and Erica his teacher… and I’m sure everyone else who works there is equally incredible. They all encourage each kiddo to be themselves and express that through their artwork. They are welcoming and make us feel like family each time we’re there. They have been very accommodating when my son has been sick and we needed to reschedule. They host a various camps on days off of school, spring breaks, summer, etc. which my son really enjoyed. And they do wonderful things for the community (this month they have a Kindness Project display in the Garden State Plaza to support Autism Awareness). We’re so proud to be a part of this community.

One River has been such a positive bright spot in our lives and we look forward to class each week. So grateful to have found them! Highly recommend checking them out to see how great they are...

Great for summer camp! My son Iearned so much and the teachers and staff were all educated at School of Visual Arts and other schools. They were very patient with my son, especially the lady at the front desk with the short hair. My son's artwork is amazing!!!! He took fashion design and nature drawing. His teacher had a degree in fashion design. I can't believe he was able to learn so much in such a short period of time. We went upstairs after and saw older kids were learning how to use art software that is currently being used in the digital advertising industry today. This school provides professional level training to kids and opens their minds to limitless opportunities. Drove by so many times & glad we finally enrolled my son. They expanded to New York and all over the country in just 7 years, which is a testament to this innovative art instruction. One year ago, I registered my son for their art program. Three months ago, we moved away from Englewood. So we decided to cancel the program. When my wife talked to them, they just freezed our account. At that time, she apparently didn't know about the membership thing. So, we got a surprise yesterday, when membership fee automatically charged from my credit card. I made a call and asked them why I was charged a membership fee, after three months of conceling the program. Then l learnt that if you don't cancel the membership 30 days before the renewal date, you will automatically subscribe another year's membership without any notice. Even if you cancel your membership the first day of the new year, there will be no refund, not even a penny. That's my story.
