Annie's Cafe — Restaurant in Enterprise

My Dad told me he was in the mood for a hamburger on Friday, but didn't want a fast food joint. So I did a quick search online for "Best cheeseburger in Enterprise, AL". The first place that popped up (after sponsored ads) was Annie's. So I locked in the GPS and away we went. We had to park across the street, but folks were nice enough to let us cross pretty quickly. We walked in and were seated immediately. I have to admit that it was probably 1:00 to 1:30 in the afternoon, so I'm sure we missed the lunch rush.

Our server took our drink orders and returned shortly. She then took my Dad's cheeseburger and fries and my bacon cheeseburger and fries order. Maybe 10 minutes later they were delivered to our table.

Y'all, I swear this was quite possibly the best burger and fries combination I have ever had. The burger was amazingly flavorful and the fries were perfectly cooked - not too crunchy and not too soft. It was great. In fact, I finished off my Dad's fries after mine were all gone! I have a joke I like to tell where I ask folks if they've ever noticed that the fewer fries you have remaining, the lower your standards get? You don't have to worry about that here, because the last one was just as good as the first.

Well, this was my third visit since visiting Enterprise. The first visit was good, the second was okay and now this one is not so good at all. Ordered two six pieces fried shrimp dinners and one fried fish dinner. We were very hungry, and patience was getting very thin waiting for dinner. After getting it delivered nice and hot, I noticed the crinkle fries were very dark and way overcooked. Next, the shrimp were also dark. Attempting to pull the tail off was met by futile resistance. It would just stretch but not break loose. I ended up cutting it off with a knife. I attempted to bite a chunk off of the shrimp, but all my mouth could do was spring back open. I told my wife to hold one end, and I'll get up and stretch it towards the entrance door. Turns out that was out of the question, she said.
