Win Kee is a small restaurant in a plaza that sure does fill up quick with only a few tables inside. We were lucky enough to come in early to snag a table. The inside of the restaurant is decorated to look like a hawker street stall. Loved it!
Somebody immediately brought some waters and menus. We got the lemon tea and milk tea to drink. The lemon tea came with sweetening syrup on the side to sweeten to your liking, I used the entire thing and the tea was delicious. So hard not to drink it all at once! Milk tea was also great, very flavorful, just wish it was a little sweeter.
We ordered all of our food at once and everything came out as it was made. They seemed to only have one cook on at the time until it got busier and food still came out in a timely manner. I have nothing bad at all to say about any of the food. Everything was fantastic!
We did want to order the crispy pork belly but they didn't have any at the time. It's only available until sold out so I definitely know to come early next time!!
We first got the veggie spring rolls. I loved these because they were super crispy, it seemed almost like the wrap is thicker than normal for extra crisp. Inside was warm and satisfying.
The honey glazed bbq pork came after. It came sitting in a sauce and we ate it up sooo fast. Lots of flavor, wish I had more.
Next was the chicken wings, we ordered them thai style. Thai style was a nice garlicky sauce with a touch of spice. The order came out as all flats which is usual but I love flats so I'm not complaining!!
I got the beef chow fun as my entree and it was a generous portion, definitely shareable. Entire dish was great with wonderful tender beef. Loved it
My husband built his own soup with the two meats. He ordered the marinated soy sauce chicken and more honey glazed bbq pork, clear broth and egg noodles. Broth was flavorful and the meats were definitely the star. The pork is the same as the appetizer and the soy sauce chicken was out of this world amazing. It's certainly marinated long enough to hold all that great soy sauce flavor. The chicken is so tender and it just melts in your mouth.
Everything here is so good and we cannot wait to...
Read moreLonggg wait for food! If you are in a hurry, don’t even think of going there. We told the waitress in advance that we are sort of in a rush to catch a flight back home. Ended up waiting for 45 minutes and still no food came while others who just got seated had already half way finished their food!!! Asked to have everything packed up to go and the lady owner says cuz we changed from a soup noodle to a rice dish, it’ll take extra long! I was like well, if u know a way to get the soup noodle thru security at the airport, please let us know. Otherwise, rice dish was our only choice to take with us to eat at the airport because of their slowness! What a mess! Taste of food was decent though.
Responding to the owner:
It was not by choice to change the item. It was completely due to the long wait to receive our food that we had to change to a rice dish from a soup noodle in order for us to take it with us and bring it through the airport security as we were running late to get to our flight.
We completely understand good food takes time to prep; however, how would you feel when you’ve been sitting there waiting this whole time (almost an hour) while you see people coming from behind us who waited for a table, got seated and almost finished with their food and we still have NOTHING?!?!
If there’s a miscommunication in the kitchen or something, it would be nice to be honest about it and admit to your mistakes. We understand things happen and it is what it is. However, not a single apology from the owner left a bad taste in my mouth. I would love to support my fellow HongKongers but it’s unfortunate this was a very bad experience...
Read moreI would have left 5 stars if not for the service. The food here is genuinely amazing — we especially came to try the pork belly. But unfortunately, the service and handling of our visit left a bad taste.
First, when we arrived just 5 minutes after receiving the text that our table was ready, we were told our spot had been given away and we were removed from the queue entirely. No warning, no grace period. We were still seated, but our party of four was crammed around a table meant for two, which made the entire experience uncomfortable from the start.
Then, the biggest letdown: we were told as soon as we sat down that the pork belly was sold out — the main dish we came to try. Disappointed but still hopeful, we ordered several other dishes, including a quarter duck. After finishing most of our meal, we decided to order more duck and even discussed with our server whether we could be charged the half-duck price instead. We were told no, but we went ahead and ordered it anyway.
And then — as we were standing up to leave — we saw the table next to us being served pork belly. We immediately asked our server about it, and she responded that it would be a 30-minute wait if we wanted it.
So here’s the issue:
1.) If it’s a 30-minute wait, it’s not sold out — it’s just delayed. 2.) Why weren’t we told it was still possible with a wait time? 3.) And why wasn’t it mentioned again when we were actively discussing ordering more food? The food deserves recognition, but the service felt dismissive, uncommunicative, and frankly, a bit dishonest. That experience soured an...
