I was SO DISAPPOINTED. This used to be an all time fave. I hadn't been there in several years due to relocating. I had raved about it to my husband, so we went there for dinner. A disappointment at best. A little pricy, I knew that. I ordered the spinach fruit salad, he the pulled pork sandwich. My salad had no issues. However the warm/hot cravable popovers, their signature, was cold, stale, and chewy. I had to specifically request the maple butter. Walking out I observed a great big chrome basket of them piled on the food window, who knows how long they had been there. If you don't push perfection on your signature, you lose credibility on other items. My husband's pulled pork was greasy, schlocky, cool, and flavorless. Served with a very scant handful of plain potato chips. We both had iced tea, were never offered refills to empty glasses. Four dollars for tea, no refills. Service was absent. We got orders, we got served, one checking about three minutes in, never saw our server again. Never offered dessert, nothing. We waited like 10 minutes after finishing just to get our check, but no refills. My salad, no protein, his sandwich, a cold popover include with my salad, and two teas? Forty dollars please,...
Read moreThis was my second visit to Popovers and it was lovely. We visited for a quick lunch and sat at a high top in the bar area. The atmosphere of Popovers is great, there's a ton of natural light, simple decorations, and just overall really clean and inviting. The bar area has three TVs which were all set to sports which isn't my thing but hey, it's a bar. I don't know if this bar would be good for specifically watching a sports game as the TVs are mounted pretty high up and the volume kept low.
You're served popovers as a free appetizer. I am not a huge fan of popovers but they are good. Moist hollow inside, tender flaky crust. You're given butter packets and I wish they provided their own butter instead - they make many items in house and plain commercial butter packets just don't fit in, IMO. I got clam chowder and half a sandwich; I don't actually remember which sandwich I had, but oh boy Popovers loves mayo. So much mayo. But the soup and sandwich were both delicious! I dipped my popover in the chowder which was great.
We also got some baked goods to go. There are two whole cases of freshly baked cakes, pastries, cookies, etc. The chocolate mousse cup...
Read moreAfter discovering this place a month ago, purely by accident, I hav eaten there 4 times now! I love the food here! The only down side is that the gluten free offerings a bit smaller than the non gluten free foods, but it is probably the "normal" size that we should be eating anyway! My last item I had was a Rueben. It was delivered with the top upside down (on a gluten free bun) which was probably to add some artistic flair to it. I was not impressed with that because when I turned it over, the cheese and dressing was a bit messy. Thank you chef for trying to be creative, I do appreciate the effort, but I like it the correct side up and with a tad bit more cheese to it. Still, kudos to you! The quiche is to die for! I can't stop thinking about it as it was the best by far.... could you make the slice a bit bigger? Maybe I should just order a whole quiche for myself! My friend who also has been with me loves their food as well and she is not GF! Our server Diana is a very hard worker and very efficient. We enjoy her company! She always gets us laughing. Check out the desert cases too, as they have some GF selections as well as regular...
