Iāve let this ride since last week before posting here to see what response I would get first.
First let me say that I have ordered beans a few times in the last few months and the beans have been great and very fast shipping.
I ordered 20 Lbs of beans on 07/28 and the order was shipped very quickly on 07/29. The beans arrived on 07/31 (very fast). I store my beans on wooden pallets in 5 Gal food safe buckets in my garage so I got a new 5 gal bucket and opened the box. There was no damage (to the box) and they were actually packed very good in a heavy duty Zip Lock bag. I picked up the bag and āBOOMā! The seam on the side, at the bottom, split spilling beans all over the garage floor. Luckily about 9 Lbs of the beans fell back into the box so it wasnāt a total loss.
I wrote them and informed them what had happened and the next day got an email from them saying: āThanks for letting us know Timothy and apologies for that. We did very thorough testing when selecting those bags and send out between 20 and 30 of the 20lb size per day but unfortunately there are some issues occasionally between rough treatment by shippers and potential QC issues during production of the bags themselves. We will keep a close eye on them in the future an appreciate your business and understanding in this matter., Maxā
I was thanked for my āUnderstandingā? Iām still not sure what it was I was understanding!
I wrote them back and let them know that the box had arrived with no damage and it was the bag that they were in that just split, spilling 11 Lbs of beans (again on the garage floor) and offered to send the bag back so they could investigate it. I even stated that I would like to order again but can not take a chance on losing the beans and money again. So please let me know if you change packaging!
I got no response to that email.
I was ātoldā by another user to give them another chance before posting reviews everywhere. SOā¦ā¦ā¦..
I called today and spoke to Max. I asked if I ordered another 20 Lbs of the same beans (because I had to roast and sell them and was now 11 Lbs short) (a subtle hint to maybe replace the lost beans since he admitted in the email that the bags sometime burst), could they be packaged differently so I would not lose them. He assured me that they could and I made a comment about not being able to afford losing more beans.
He then told me that I could still use those beans. I immediately said that Since these were being roasted for customers that it āWas Notā even an option to sweep them off the garage floor and use them. He then told me āWell, Thatās your choiceā. I guess that stopped any idea that they would replace beans lost due to the packaging they shipped them in.
ALSO I now would have to question their handling policies and how the beans Iām buying may have been handled!
SOā¦. All in all I was completely happy with their products but because of this incident and having to deal with their customer service, I am now warning everyone about what happens if there is a problem! With Happy Mugā¦. Well, Youāre...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely love this coffee! With brutal summer months coming on in Louisiana, I was searching for an affordable vendor to make cold brew concentrate for my household. Happy Mug is no nonsense. Just coffee, tea, and other fine potables, fairly priced, shipped without hassle, no surprises at the checkout. Also, the coffee is phenomenal. We tried Colombian and Gentle Bear Blend, and both were absolutely delicious with individual nuance in their flavors. As soon as we ran out, we immediately reordered a 2# bag of Colombian and more coffees and teas to try.
I was surprised when I noticed that Happy Mug is based in Erie, where my partner has family--it's a small world, no? I look forward to picking up my coffee and meeting the fine folks roasting it when we make the move!
I cannot recommend their coffee enough if you are searching for fairly priced beans, if you are an advocate for small businesses and responsible trade practices, or if you simply enjoy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDown to earth, real humans. Best coffee money can buy. Consisten quality and same day shipping. They sell everything from a good regular mug of coffee to exotic rare coffees that live rent free in your head for months after drinking it. I asked them to draw a picture of a raccoon on my invoice and I got 7 drawings of raccoons. I love everyone who works here so much, they are all amazing. I like knowing that when I buy coffee from Happy Mug it goes towards paying legendary coffee farmers and keeping the whole industry sustainable. The coffees from other roasters who have coffee that tastes this good, charge 2 to 3 times as much money and don't ship the order for a couple of days. That's fine! They are important to the industry too, but Happy Mug is less expensive and ships so fast. If you are thinking of spending $25 a pound from a coffee roaster, look to see if Happy Mug has the same coffee, and just spend $13 and buy it from them because it's the...
