Zodiac Dinor — Restaurant in Erie

Can't say enough about my first experience at the Zodiac. What a warm and welcoming environment! Great chatter and nothing but good energy. A large coffee mug refilled constantly, the Chorizo is their specialty, which Barb suggested and I was thankful she did as it wouldn't have been complete without it. Pancake just chewy enough to be perfect (you can always assess a breakfast spot by it's pancakes and this one passed with flying colors.) Locals sat across from me and made conversation, and proprietor Samantha had a great rapport with both employees and diners. Big thick slices of buttered Rye toast made the whole thing perfect. Reasonable prices. Felt like I just joined a family I didn't know I needed! I'll be a fiercely loyal regular now after this exceptional experience and will tell anyone in earshot where to go for breakfast. Thanks guys, I'll...

Recently moved to Erie. Saw that this place is rated amongst the "best" in Erie, PA. I really hope this is not true. I took my parents there from out of town. As my dad put it, "I'd have to rate 'Zodiac' - two thumbs down." - I was embarrassed. The wait staff was not friendly. The whole place was gross. The coffee was TERRIBLE. I asked for whole wheat toast, and was brought white- and tasted like it was defrosted. I really hope I can find a better diner in Erie. (Also- why is it spelled "dinor"?)

The food was good, but I'm giving it a 2 star because they literally gave us tap water. I've always gotten water at any restaurant or diner I go to, but this tasted like literal water from the hose. They're better off selling bottles of water if they can't get some sort of filtration system. I then asked for a soda and she poured a can into the cup which immediately went flat. They also have their menu written on a white board that they sat us in front of. So everyone that needed to see the menu was standing behind us while we're eating trying to see the menu.
