Love Seafood, especially shrimp and crab . Had the Clam Chowder, which was Great. Ordered the Combo#2 which was Corn, Sausage, Shrimp and Crab with garlic and medium sauce. Now I'm a Native of The Eastern Shore of Virginia and I'm very familiar with how a Shrimp Boil/ Low Country Boil/ Frogmore Stew is Made. By What I could taste, The Corn, Potatoes, Shrimp and Crab were Probably steamed/ cooked properly. However I can't for the life of me me figure out why they served it in a plastic bag with what looked like about 2 pints of cooking oil, melted butter, Hot sauce and a cup of minced garlic. It looked like something you see kids riding around on bikes trying to sell tourists in Bangladesh. Even with bibs and gloves this was just a complete disaster to try to pick out and eat. The Crab legs were coated with oil and it was had to hold and crack them. We must have went through 50 napkins, Suggestion: Just steam or boil the food with the regular seafood seasoning ( Catamarans, Old Bay, Etc) Dip it onto a serving tray and put the sauce in...
Read moreThis was our first time eating at Bag o Crab in Escondido. I ordered the shrimp po boy and my husband ordered the chicken strips. I substituted onion rings instead of fries with my sandwich for $1 more.
A cute little robot with a kitty face delivered our food pretty quickly. The shrimp po boy was absolutely delicious! It has fried shrimp, lettuce, onion and the most delectable pesto mayonnaise. The onion rings were lightly battered and the perfect thickness. They were positively wonderful. My husband loved his chicken strips and noted happily they were not very greasy. The fries were done to perfection and tasted great. They are lightly seasoned just the right amount.
Overall, our meal was scrumptious. The servings are quite large and we had lots of leftovers. Our server had a fantastic personality and was friendly and accommodating to boot. The total was $29.75 before gratuity, plus we have another meal in leftovers! I highly recommend Bag o...
Read moreWe came to Bag O’ Crab in Escondido today to celebrate Mother’s Day with my mom. We were excited and all ordered Combo #2, each adding an extra pound of crab — that’s about $80 per person. The server, a light-skinned person with tattoos and glasses, clearly repeated the order back, including my crab add-on. But when the food came, I was the only one who didn’t get my extra pound of crab — even though I ordered and paid for it.
When I brought it up, nothing was done to fix it. No replacement, no apology, no effort to make it right. I basically sat there while everyone else had what they ordered, and I didn’t — on Mother’s Day.
They’ll gladly take your money but won’t make sure you actually get what you ordered. I shouldn’t have to feel like I need to bring a scale to weigh my food just to make sure I’m not getting shorted.
Plain and simple: don’t go there. There are plenty of other crab places that will respect your order —...
