Wendy's — Restaurant in Escondido

Hate this Wendy's with a passion!! It's been a few years since I patronized this location.

The issue I had here was they made my take-out order wrong. They gave me a regular chicken sandwich when I payed for an Asiago chicken sandwich. I called to let them know, and the person I talked to took my name down and told me they would comp me a chicken sandwich next time I visited. Great...or so I thought.

Next time in I tried to get my chicken sandwich, and that's when it hit the fan. The Manager said the person I talked to didn't exist and basically accused me of trying to steal a sandwich from them.

Moral of the story...complain when they try to screw you! I ended up getting in touch with the District Manager, who upon hearing my story, offered me a coupon for a combo at no charge to make up for it. A week later, not 1, but 3 coupons for Any Sized Combo Meal arrived in the mail.

Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. Seriously, avoid this Wendy’s. Everywhere else I use Apple Pay but at this Wendy’s I handed them my credit card at the drive thru. Not long after that my number was used at a gas station to fill up multiple cars. While I can’t prove that my number was stolen at this Wendy’s, I very rarely use the physical card and it was the physical card number that was stolen. The food is about what you’d expect from Wendy’s: terrible. It’s all very low quality and often over cooked and way too salty. That’s not unique to this Wendy’s, but is a reason not to eat here. Then there’s the parking lot. Homeless people hide in the bushes and yell at people. People drive extremely dangerously, too. Today there was an accident that was so bad that pieces of one car were all over the place and the car was disabled, blocking traffic. How does that happen at speeds that you should be driving in a parking lot? It doesn’t. Someone was driving way too fast. While I no longer go to Wendy’s, I do shop at the grocery store in the same parking lot, and I always have to be extra careful when driving near...

I don’t know if the management is asleep in a back office not giving a damn, but the food could have been better. A lot better. I mean way better.

The French Fries and chicken in the Chicken Sandwich were badly discolored from old oil that needs to be changed. Needless to say, the old oil altered the taste of the fries and chicken something badly. Something awful. We couldn’t even eat it. Had we dined in I would have taken it back to the counter. We received our meal through the drive-thru and took it home. I had already lost over $25 in foul food, I wasn’t open to wasting gas to return and complain. Besides, you never send food back to the kitchen to be “fixed.” Only a fool does that expecting to not be disgustingly disrespected.

Final note: Just because the new minimum wage is $20 an hour for fast food workers, does not mean management can cheat the consumer by serving good food spoiled by way too old oil.
