First I must say, I really ENJOY more the sister restuarant to El Parasol in San Juan at the Travel Center gas station! They have alil more variety on their menu, Like a Breakfast plate and Green Chili Stew and a few other items.. Not to mention a place to sit and eat in doors. Where as to this El Parasol Located off the interesection to Santa Cruz does not offer these items that I mentioned on the menu. (There's no in door eating and only have 3 or 4 picnic tables that are so old to eat out doors, you really have to take your food home to eat). Also, there more staffed in San Juan and the food is much more neater and eye appealing! Here in Santa Cruz it's always packed with customers (Which is Good) by the way but, the parking since its shared with the Family Restaurant it's hard to find parking. Plus it takes along time to get your order and when it's put in bags it's very messy.. In San Juan food is serviced neatly, and if your order is bigger they put it in a box! Don't get me wrong the Food is amazing in all the establishments the Stars there are all 5s.. but this place needs a bigger place to provide to there customers. Especially as much customers from all over they get and the money 💰 their making! "Hint" Make A bigger and better establishment instead of a lil shack that holds 3 or 4 employees that barely fit! If you look at Los Alamos El Parasol Located at 1903 Central Ave , WOW!! does that place blows the doors hands down. Fancy furniture and it looks like it could hold at least 50 or more people there. Sorry THIS IS WHY YOU DONT GET 5 Stars🌟 from me! This Parasol really needs a new look. None the less The Food is...
Read moreThe hours are NOT for the restaurant, but for the food-truck. The restaurant was closed when we went by at 3 pm on a Thursday. They seem to intentionally misrepresent this and don't post the restaurant hours on line. Why let people inside when you can charge the same amount and provide no service? The window where you order has papers on the upper part of it hiding whoever is taking your order, who is also to the side, so it is just a voice, and impatient even though no one else there. Very unfriendly. DO NOT tip these people as they do nothing but take your order. The two tacos I ordered had almost zero taste to the meat or anything. They also were very small, maybe 4-inches wide - I wa shocked. Then just a lot of tasteless lettuce. They only have hard-shell and no option for soft-shell. These were THE WORST TACOS and most forgettable I Have ever had. These cost about $4.50 each, which with tax is $10 for two, and each costs them probably 30 cents worth of ingredients. I was still hungry, having eaten almost nothing, but didn't want to give them any more business.
We live in Dallas, stayed at Ojo Caliente spa, and were excited to try this and it was a huge disappointment. The reviews are not believable. From the rude, faceless order taking, to the small size, no taste, high price, and you sit at a metal picnic table outside and clear your own plate. Total BS. Skip this and go anywhere else and you...
Read moreBest kept secret outdoor taco stand! I can only vouch for this original location as it's all I come to visit. I have no desire to try the other Parasol locations in Santa Fe or Cities of Gold, etc. For years my family has made a stop on one of our trips to eat here mainly for the pollo w/guacamole tacos or bean and chicharron red chile burritos. Best authentic combination Mexican and New Mexican food! They really nicely updated the parking and sitting areas. Large adjacent parking lot and more tables under the trees to sit and eat with beautiful flower beds hanging on the fences. Service is fast for how busy they are and food is always fresh. Prices increased a little due to inflation I'm sure. LOL! And best ever they have a nice sized vegetarian menu. A must try is the Khalsa stuffed sopapilla special filled with beans, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, onions, jalapenos, cheese, guacamole and sour cream, and garnished with lettuce and tomato, (substitutions allowed)! Absolutely delicious! After eating you can continue to visit one of the nearby casinos or venture into Chimayo to the Santuario or travel on to Taos, Red River, Angel Fire or...
