We've been wanting to try this out, and we finally did! They do take reservations, in case it is going to be a busier night when everyone is not on vacation, then you will need them. The food is good, the pricing is fair, and the server was definitely ON IT (almost to the point of too on it) The night we went it was not busy and that could have been why our server was able to really advance us about 4x in 10 minute if we were ready to order (and we were not) as we had never dined here before, and there's a solid menu and a good drink menu so getting your food and drink legs on will take a minute. The area with the cornhole was far more busy than the restaurant. There were families and couples. There was no music or entertainment (we were not expecting that but just mentioning) We sat in the dining area as you can see from the pictures. You do have to ASK for water (pretty much the norm anyway, just mentioning) We liked the themed dining and there are plenty of choices on the menu if you don't eat meat (yeah), I mean you could drink your way through it too! Cheesesteak, chicken sandwich and Inconceivable burger (actually an impossible burger) 2 reasons I took a star off of my rating: first, all of our bread was stale, and I attribute that to the garage doors being opened and bread being exposed to the air and humidity, but still, we all had the same experience with all the different bread. #2 They are not overly generous with the fries and they are really good (just a comment from someone in our group and I agree but I don't eat them anyway, so I gave them up!) Validate that by looking at the cheesesteak where you can count about 12 fries total, and the same with the burger and the chicken sandwich (images tell the story better than words) Aside from that, it is good and different from most places we have been lately.

"You want to get a bead on a new restaurant? Order something you don't like. If you like it, you got a bead on a new restaurant." - Paul Newman An automobile enthusiast and experimental chef himself, Paul Newman would have loved the very idea of a gastropub/garage located on Butler Street in Etna. "The Rear End" offers a wide selection of choice local craft beers and excels with their sandwich offerings. Both the Pork Fotingo and Garage Burger will meet your high expectations for refined diner fare. You like a plate of Poutine? The Garage Fries does poutine one better with added cajun cheese curds. But what about ordering that item you don't like? Newman's method for getting a bead and all. For me, that item has always been brussel sprouts. I've shied away from them for years, but after a few house "Dented Fender" pints and encouragement from my party, I gave them a try, and they were tasty! Just the right seasoning with bacon, beer and lemon. Not all was perfect; some drafts were too costly and although a great sound system appears to be in place, it was underutilized. They have the space and opportunity to add a stage for live indoor/outdoor events, which I hope is in their future. But in the meantime, I've got a bead on a new restaurant and it's The Rear End Gastropub and Garage.

What a gem! We need places like this in the North Hills that are local owned and community based. Chris the bar manager was a delight. He told us all about their passion to bring more community spaces to Etna and the surrounding areas. Also…they are dog friendly!! It’s so great. They have green space with a fire pit and tables, plus out door covered spaces and indoor/outdoor bar. The atmosphere is chill with music to rock out to. The food is good with some creative takes on classics. Amazing Whiskey list, lots of beers on tap, and a fire pit. The prices are so reasonable, including the tap beers (paid $11 for two beers!). I spent less than $50 for a good, full meal for 2, including drinks and tip. Can’t recommend enough! Also their website menu is not always accurate so stop by in person to check out what they have each week. I can see myself bringing friends here, it’s a great vibe. Edit: We still love it! We went back and had fish tacos, pretzel bites, and a burger. Very dog and family friendly! Lots of families, babies, and dogs.

Hello, I was asked to do a detail rating on my experience today. (So as a restaurant critic, this is long) Well, I went into the restaurant and was greeted with a hello. Told them I never have been here. I was seated and was told server will be right over. When server came over, asked what I wanted to drink, stating coke products, lemonade and tea. No real introduction of who she was. Told her I didn't know. I've never been here before. So she left. However did return ordered a cocktail drink and glass of water. She got the drinks and returned. Ordered a crash burger fries and a side of mac and cheese. Well the burger was spicy for only having caramelized onion and american cheese. Fries were little greasy. It seemed like they were sitting in a basket over fryer. Side of mac and cheese was not hot thru out. Waitress returned 2 times, which is good amount, seeing if everything was good. And a third to take dishes and see if I wanted anything. Then I saw a guy come out of kitchen with blue gloves on, getting ice and a drink,And returned into kitchen. Thought that seemed like cross contamination somewhere. If cooking with dirty gloves and goes out into restaurant, because most people remove gloves and go into public space and return to put on new ones. Then bill came. Found out my waitress name was on the receipt. And they have 2 old gas cans were sitting on wire shelf on top of the Togo containers. I'm sure their empty, but I think a better place could be found. So Summary, food wasn't great. See alot of possibilities to be great place to eat. Hopefully owner/manager will achieve this. The wait staff can try to offer recommendations to a new person(up sale). And be a little more personal and and offer normal resturant manners by offering their names and ty for stopping or have a good night. And cooks gloves were still concerning.

The presentation of food was not anything special. Everything was separate.

Waitress picked up bill. Returned said I just need a signature. No ty for stopping buy, when I left, no one said anything to me. Like they didn't care...

I wasn't going to post a review but I feel like this needs to be said. I've had the food here I think 7 times, all take out for lunch. The first and second experience was great. Food was spot on delicious. I got a side salad with my second order and it had hair in it, no big deal I don't always eat salad anyhow and I know stuff happens I get it. But my third and fourth lunch take out two days in a row I got the overhaul burger, again fantastic taste wise but one burger had a huge hair in it inside the cheese when I took a bite it was stringing from my mouth to the burger still attached, I spit it out and threw the whole meal away. Then the next day I thought I'll try it again and same freaking thing AGAIN with hair in my cheese but this time seemed like it was in the meat as well. So I went up there and noticed a man cooking with long hair and no hair net or gloves handling the food. I'm frustrated because the food tastes fantastic and I keep wanting to try it again but come on, three times with hair?? Unacceptable. I'm posting now because a friend of mine had hair in his food recently that I just heard about today. Please try to tell your cooks to be more aware of their hygiene and handling food without a hair net or atleast tie it up or wear a hat idk. I might try it again today for...
