This has been one of my favorite pizza spots for years. It’s been a staple of the community. I know ownership has changed hands recently and I was hoping that they would not change a thing. Earlier this year when I got the pizza that was the case. Same old Carmella’s — I was grateful.
However this most recent experience was disappointedly different. I’m not sure if the cheese was different or just the lack of cheese made it taste different. Similarly with the sauce, I thought it was close to the classic taste but I’m not sure if the portion of the ingredients used were changed or if some were eliminated altogether.
Most importantly, Carmella’s pizzas used to take a bit longer because of the way they were cooked in the oven and it was so worth it. This was definitely not the case this time.
My advice to the new owner(s), I beg you, please please don’t cut corners for any reason and ruin this neighborhood gem. I wish you nothing...
Read moreCall to order a pizza. Tell them I've never ordered from there before..... asked if they just sold pizza.... the person who answered the phone was so dry and and said "yep we are at a hour wait." Obviously he hates his job amd DID NOT want to make my pizza! Very discouraging as a new customer, should of been more friendly and HELPFUL! Guess I won't be trying that pizza! Way to go Carmella's Pizza Bazaar, you were very HELPFUL! WHAT PIZZA PLACES DOESN'T NORMALLY HAVE A WAIT OF A HOUR????? NONE AROUND HERE, U could of said "Yes that's all we sell.... did you need help with the menu??? It is a hour wait at this moment, but it will surely be worth the wait!" I work in customer service, so when people who have no ability to please others shouldn't be in the field....they especially should NOT be the person...
Read moreGrew up in Solon where we lived and died by Carlo’s Pizza Bazaar. When home from college my best friend and I would make sure to eat there once a week. When it closed…so did my childhood. Until someone told me about Carmella’s. Another Solon grad who’s a neighbor now in Chagrin was beyond excitement. My wife and I drove the 30 minutes looking forward to dinner and introducing her to the best pizza in Cleveland only to find it was takeaway only. We zipped over the The Standard for a drink then picked up our pies. We couldn’t resist and starting eating as soon as we got on the highway. Needless to say, the pizza didn’t make it back to Chagrin Falls. The sausage, the crust, the cheese…all the same. We’ve ventured back every few weeks when visiting with other Solon friends and everyone is taken back...
