My experience was a very unique one. As my brother and I were waiting on our 2 half slab dinners - of which the owner was gracious enough to discount because we only had $22 cash between the 2 of us and he didn't accept debit cards - the owner starts asking what brought us to Mentor. I stated we like Popeyes and we don't yet have one in Erie. He then asks who are we voting for in the election. My brother says neither, and the owner then goes on to state he is voting for Trump and if you don't like it he doesn't care. I state I am just here for food and I'm going to leave the politics lie right where they're at. The owner then launched into a misinformation filled history lesson on slavery and how I, being black, don't know my history on how democrats kept slaves enslaved and republicans were the ones that freed the slaves and we're helping them get established. In my opinion, he wasn't really looking for an intelligent discussion or an exchange of ideas....he wanted an argument. He was combative and seemed to be looking to start an incident. We were there for food, not a skewed history lesson or to be harassed by the owner and his political views. I spoke up and said that his insights were incorrect and and began explaining my position. As I was talking to this man, my anger had risen and I was wondering to myself how did I get here? And why did this man feel as though his views were of any importance to me or my brother? We were there as customers to get ribs...that was it. Disappointed in the human condition we left. Oh yeah, the ribs were water logged and the sauce tastes like watered...
Read moreI had wanted to try this place for the longest time, but they never seemed to be open during the day. So, I finally get back to Euclid after working all day, knowing I was hungry and R-Ribs was open. I decided to give them a try. I entered the establishment and proceeded to find my way to the counter. An older man was standing behind the counter waiting to take my order. I ask for a menu. He tells me they're out of menus, but that there are some on the wall beside me. So I go and browse the menu and finally settle on a full slab of ribs for $19.99. I ask the man how long it will take. He tells me 2 minutes and that he needs to slice them. Long story short, when I received the styrofoam container with my purchase, it seemed light in weight for a FULL SLAB of ribs. So, I go and check it out. I was disappointed at what I saw because I could have sworn that I received a half slab. If I ever go back, I'm going to ask that the slab not be cut. I never thought about that until I decided to write this review.
However, on a positive note, I did like the flavor of the ribs and the sauce, although...
Read moreI was suggested to try the ribs there so Juneteenth they were open 1 of their 3days a week. There was no sauce on the fries as I asked and very little sauce on the ribs so I had to order buy extra sauce and was asked by the worker how do they taste as I tried a rib? They were not good to most people who don't barbecue and know the difference in charcoal grill versus a commercial wood oven to bake ribs that many franchise bbq restaurants use to not burn any has less flavor,.I was very disappointed like at BB Kings on Beale Street in Memphis Because that's not how to barbecue great ribs for real The packaging wasn't professional and the restaurant looks bad I wouldn't suggest that restaurant to anyone I know or myself again and very fortunate I...
