Esmeralda's really is the best Mexican Restaurant in Eureka, and I'll tell you why! When I left Napa it was dark and I was planning on stopping up in Garberville at a hole in the wall restaurant I like, but the fuel gauge said otherwise. I was pumping fuel into the auxiliary tank a small group of locals gathered around wanting to know how I could get 200 gallons of fuel into the Ram, and after I explained the obvious, I asked the group about getting some tacos somewhere...And Wam! I was hit with "You go to Esmeralda's 2.0 or we'll run you outa town" Well, that's a pretty strong recommendation, so off I went. And you know what...those Bumpkins at the fuel station were right...the tacos de carne asada y frijoles refritos were Amazing! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

They're pickup / take-out only, which is fine. My food was ready about 40 minutes later than when it told me to come pick it up. They offered a free side of guac as an apology. If I'd known it would take an hour to get two burritos, I'd have gone elsewhere. The pico de Gallo I paid $1.50 extra for was in a separate container and was 80% raw onion, 15% cilantro, and 5% diced tomato. Inedible. They require your cell number to let you know when your food is ready, then spam you with advertisements later. If you unsubscribe from the ads, you don't get alerts about your order. Learn what opt-in advertising means, ask for consent. This business has the most aggressive advertising of any local business.

Our first time experience was impressive. There was ample parking out front and the first thing I noticed when entering was the wheelchair access and festive decor, both of which was an unexpected touch. The food was quickly prepared and served and the quality and freshness was apparent. The drinks were served in convenient to-go cups and the extra napkins were very much appreciated. All and all, we had a fine experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant to family and friends. 😁

Esmeralda’s 2.0 really lives up to its name because it is easily one of the best Mexican restaurants in Eureka and a place that delivers not just good food but a full experience. From the second you walk inside, you are welcomed by bright colors, lively décor, and an energy that makes the whole restaurant feel warm and inviting. It has that mix of being casual enough for a quick lunch but polished enough for a sit down dinner with friends or family. The atmosphere is fun, welcoming, and full of personality, which makes you want to settle in and enjoy yourself.

The food here is where Esmeralda’s truly shines. Every plate is loaded with bold flavors and fresh ingredients. The tacos are excellent, with tortillas that taste homemade and fillings that are seasoned and cooked to perfection. The carne asada is smoky and tender, the al pastor has that perfect sweet and savory balance, and the shrimp tacos burst with freshness. The burritos are enormous and packed full of meat, beans, rice, salsa, and guacamole, making them a meal all on their own. Enchiladas come smothered in rich, flavorful sauces, and their chile rellenos are cooked with just the right balance of texture and flavor. The menu is broad, but everything is done with care and consistency.

One of the highlights here is the mole, which has a deep and layered flavor that only comes from traditional recipes made with patience. It is rich, savory, and slightly sweet, and it transforms a simple plate of chicken into something unforgettable. The seafood dishes are also standouts, with plates of shrimp, fish, and other fresh catches prepared with bold seasoning and served in generous portions.

Drinks add even more to the experience. The margaritas are strong and refreshing, made the way they should be, and the micheladas are spiced perfectly. Even the aguas frescas taste bright and natural, making it easy to pair something cold and refreshing with your meal.

The service at Esmeralda’s 2.0 is just as good as the food. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always attentive without being overbearing. They treat you like family and make sure every detail is right, from refilling drinks to recommending dishes you might not have tried yet.

What makes Esmeralda’s 2.0 stand out to me is the way it combines authenticity, flavor, and hospitality all under one roof. The food feels true to its roots, the atmosphere is vibrant and enjoyable, and the people working there make the experience memorable every time. It is not just another Mexican restaurant in Eureka, it is a place that delivers flavor and comfort in a way that keeps you coming back.

For me, Esmeralda’s 2.0 is one of the essential restaurants in Eureka. It is the kind of place where you know you will leave full, happy, and satisfied every time. If someone asks me where to get Mexican food in this city, this is one of the first names out of my mouth because it really is one...

I’ve ordered from this restaurant twice in the last month. Ah, their “$1 taco Tuesdays”! But, to get a $1 taco, you have to order a $5 drink, none of which are appealing (my opinion), but I ordered a Mango Tea the 1st time went there, it was ok. But, the tacos themselves aren’t worthy of any more than $1! I was told that, during my 1/2 lunch break, it’d take 15 minutes to make 3 tacos. I came back, about 20 minutes later, was told my ticket was “already closed out”, whatever that means. This translated to my order not being ready & told they’d expedited it, resulting in me being late back to work. Today, for Cinco De Mayo, they sent a text for $1 tacos. Learning from my previous visit, I ordered ahead, 1 drink (as required) & 4 Tonga chicken & 4 grilled chicken tacos, thinking I’d have dinner & lunch for tomorrow. The restaurant’s estimated time for pickup was 100-150 minutes. I thought, this must be a mistake! After about 30 minutes, I stopped by the restaurant & the waitress told me it wasn’t a mistake, they’d text me when my order was ready. 2 hours later, with less than 15 minutes before they closed, I received a text my order was ready! I didn’t think I could even make it in time, but I got there within 4 minutes before close. She assured me “it usually doesn’t take this long”! I said, I was concerned I could get here before you closed! I brought my food home-it was cold, not even “lukewarm”. Clearly, my tacos had been sitting for a long time. These tacos are truly only worthy of $1, buying a beverage I didn’t want is a waste of $5. This is possibly the worst Mexican restaurant in Eureka, maybe California! If you are craving good street tacos, go to Rita’s in Arcata or Ralalbertos in Eureka by Big 5. Their tacos are FAR superior! I won’t be returning to this restaurant again. Not only does the service suck, you can’t “dine in”, & the food is...

If you're searching for an authentic Mexican dining experience in Eureka, look no further than Esmeralda's 2.0. From the moment you step through the doors, the vibrant atmosphere sets the stage for a flavor-packed journey.

Let's start with the star of the show: the Super Burrito. Bursting with savory goodness, each bite is a symphony of perfectly seasoned meat, fresh vegetables, and creamy guacamole, all wrapped in a warm tortilla. It's a meal that satisfies both hunger and cravings in one delicious package.

Speaking of guacamole, Esmeralda's version is a true standout. Made with ripe avocados and just the right amount of lime and cilantro, it's the perfect accompaniment to their crispy, homemade tortilla chips. Every dip is a fiesta for your taste buds.

And let's not forget about the sides. The rice and beans are cooked to perfection, each spoonful bursting with flavor. Whether you're a fan of traditional Mexican rice or hearty, refried beans, Esmeralda's delivers.

But the indulgence doesn't stop there. Save room for dessert, because their churros are a must-try. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated in cinnamon sugar, they're the perfect way to end your meal on a sweet note.

Wash it all down with a refreshing glass of their Strawberry Kiwi Lemonade or Mango Lemonade. Made with fresh fruit and just the right amount of sweetness, they're the perfect complement to any dish.

Overall, Esmeralda's 2.0 is a culinary gem in Eureka, offering flavorful dishes that will transport you straight to Mexico. Whether you're a local or just passing through, a visit to Esmeralda's is an experience you won't...
