Denny's — Restaurant in Eustis

I wish there was another Denny's close by. The only reason I gave this one stars because it requires you to. I was hired by this establishment a couple months back. The day I got hired the manager told me to come in the next day at 7 a.m. wearing black pants black non-slip shoes and he would provide my shirt. I told him on the phone that I did not have black pants and I did not have non-slip shoes, so he told me to wear blue jeans and the darkest pair of sneakers that I had. So I went into work and we started training filling out paperwork he curse like a sailor it was very inappropriate. I was there for a couple of hours then he asked me to come in the following day at 7 a.m. I came in with black pants black non-slip shoes and when I walked in the door he told me that one of my references came back negative well the other manager said that my references were already called and everything was fine. I called all my references myself and not one of them got a phone call I wouldn't have put them down as references if I were to get a negative reference. So then when he sent me home he said this is not going to work out this man also knew that I took a taxi back and forth to work so two days in a row a taxi back and forth to work because I do not drive because I was in a horrific car accident and have PTSD and he also knew that I had to scramble around and get work pants and work shoes for that next morning that he sent me home. So I called corporate explained all of this to them and they called me back. This man also asked if I took any medications. I do take a medication for sleep and it is a narcotic. That's against the HIPAA law. So then the district manager called me back I told him all of this he called me a liar and said that he spoke with other employees and that the manager does not act this way however I I know people that work there and they say what a jerk he is and his cursing is unbelievable which is very unprofessional. So my husband and I went in for lunch/ dinner about a week or two ago and we had the "wonderful" waitress who's name I cannot remember but it was a big black girl with her hair up like a beehive style and a flower in her hair but I remember her from coming in Dennys frequently and seeing her there . I have never met anybody so unhappy with their life and all of my existence she was awful she frowned she was not happy she let our drinks get empty we set them on the side of the table where she could see then get filled for 5, 7, 10 minutes. I also like to chit chat with my waitresses and I struck up the conversation with her in the very beginning and we were speaking about jobs unbeknownst to her I had been hired on several months ago but cuz I was only there for the one day and then the second day for just a few minutes but anyhow I told her where I was working and that I was waitressing and I asked her how her tips were and she said oh nobody makes tips better than me I am the best waitress in Lake County and I said oh really I said how much do you bring home here from Denny's like let's say on a Friday night she said oh I bring home about $400 I call BS $400 from Denny's on a Friday night sorry sweetheart you don't make that. I will be calling corporate and letting them know how poorly we were treated by this young lady and also I think it is pretty well known that you do not douse yourself with perfume when you are working in the food industry and that's all we could smell it smelled like 50,000 perfumes different ones I'm using speech to text so that's why there's not much punctuation in here and all but yeah that is my review on Denny's in Eustis their manager is very rude very unprofessional and this waitress is the fakest I've ever met in my life I don't know how they stay afloat..... stay away from this place please. And if you ever go to get a job there the waitresses are very territorial....

I'm sorry about the lateness of this review; we were here for lunch 2 weeks ago on July 30th. Also sorry for the long review but I strive to be honest and accurate. Here's the Cliff notes version though if u need to bail: Very nice environment, best service ever, and the most utterly bland food I have ever eaten. And awful soda 😞

I was helping my brother with an animal emergency and we had had a terrible morning. By the time it was over we were stressed, absolutely starving, and srsly on the verge of heat stroke. We couldn't get into this Denny's fast enough and right away we were happy to be there. We asked for a window booth and it was cool, nice, clean, and wonderfully pleasant.

Our server was a sweet girl named Rochelle. I myself have been a server for 25 years and my brother's a long haul truck driver, and we both agreed she was the best server we'd ever encountered. She was honestly friendly and very attentive.

I ordered my favorite meal anywhere, the chicken fried steak and my brother got Denny's version of a supreme omelette. It all looked so amazing and both meals were crispy and perfectly cooked but everything was utterly tasteless. I'm not just talking about zero salt. I mean there was nothing we could taste. No pepper, no garlic, absolutely no flavor at all. My brother's omelette was packed with beautiful and delicious looking things, but somehow they had even managed to suck the natural flavor out of them all.

The one nice food thing in all of this was Denny's version of a nachos supreme. My brother and I decided to split one but they were out of nachos, so Rochelle suggested we have it with french fries instead and really, that turned out to be so unbelievably delicious. We had to order a separate side of fries though because I'm sorry to say but Denny's is extremely stingy with their yummy French fries.

A couple other really disappointing but small things: I love gravy so I had ordered an extra side of it with my meal, but even though it was LUNCHTIME, the kitchen had to make up a new batch of it so I wasn't able to get it until we were actually done eating, but we were charged anyway for this little tiny dish of gravy which was runny, lumpy, and again, completely tasteless.

Also, I'm sorry, but I LOVE soda. It is an important part of my meal, and I keep track of which places have good or bad soda. The diet soda here was just awful. Rochelle brought me as many lemons as I asked for but it barely helped. Again, I've worked in many restaurants so I suspect they just have the syrup turned low to save money, but it also could have been just a fluke.

Still, my brother and I both agreed that we would readily come back here. We'll probably just order a nachos supreme plate...

If I could give 0 stars and write a review, I would. By far, the worst restaurant experience I have ever experienced! It started with me having to get our table of 5 our menus after being told to sit wherever we would like. After waiting with the menus, and the server apologizing for her not getting our menus due to confusion with other servers leaving, she took our drink order. First round of our drinks was fine but then she took our food order and we ordered refills. The refills took forever and she forgot a few when she came back. It took her about 10 min to get some tea bags for my friend. When food finally started arriving we got 1 app correctly, 1 was missing and my wife and my app was wrong, we ordered nachos with no pico de gallo and of course it came with pico on it. At this time she also brought my wife's meal, WITH THE APPS! As we continue she finally brings the correct nachos and shortly behind that everyone's meals, except mine. Still haven't gotten that missing app. 2 meals were made poorly, my friend didn't get the toast that came with his, and my wife was still waiting on ranch for the chicken that came out with the apps. After mentioning some of this to our server she brings the final app and "fixes" 1 meal. At this point we ask to see the manager who is apparently the only 1 in the kitchen. When he finally makes it to our table, we begin saying our piece and he cuts us off. He didn't want to here our complaints and never thought to comp our meals for this terrible experience. In fact, he couldn't even print the bills correctly and tried to get us to pay as much as we would without a fight. I didn't even cover every detail of this horrible experience. We will never go back and recommend that no...
