If you go to the hidden New Orleans style open patio in the back, you find a door that will lead you to an awesome 4 seat cozy counter diner experience. The ambiance is well decorated, warm, cozy, and friendly. The black granite counter shines beautifully. Your view is an incredible barista cockpit. The Barista that served my double shot white chocolate latte made me the best latte I've ever had. She was fun, busy, and didn't mind humorous banter. She actually gave it back as it was dealt.
I've had most of the menu items over the years, but I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict. They have a few renditions and all are delicious.
Today, I ordered the Farmhouse. Eggs, bacon, country potatoes, with biscuits and gravy. The price of about 12 bucks was quite reasonable.
Everything was cooked to perfection as if it was a home cooked meal. The bacon was just crispy enough, the country potatoes were exactly as I hoped for, and the gravy was delicious without the typical canned flavor. The only exception were the eggs... the only negative I have ever experienced.
As I began to order I recollected the past times I've stopped in for breakfast since they opened a few years ago. They had rarely ever, served over easy eggs as I ordered. After a few visits I finally asked "Why are my over easy egg whites so runny? " (I just think snotty egg whites are repulsive.) :)
The waitress said "Over Easy eggs have runny whites... what you want is Over Medium, if you like your egg whites cooked." I attempted to correct this falsehood... to no avail. Now, I've been cooking and ordering "over easy" eggs for over 50 years. But still I was informed I'd been ordering them wrong my entire life. 😂
So... With this history in mind... Today I ordered my eggs... "Over easy yolks with fully cooked whites" I just knew it would work. But... No. " You want over medium " ... was the reply. I was assured the eggs will be as I wanted them. She was going to tell the cook herself. However, the eggs came out with fully cooked medium yolks. :(
I now realize there is no mistake on the kitchen side at all. They are being mistakenly trained to believe Over Easy, Over Medium, Over Hard... Has to do with the egg whites. Not the yolks. The issue is with the trainer. Not the awesome staff that is left with the daunting task of explaining snotty eggs to the customers.
So... If you want over easy eggs without the snotty whites... Order an omelette... :) They are perfectly delicious!! Along with the rest of the menu.
Service is exceptional and the $ moderate and the food is delicious 😋 😋 I sure would appreciate a like. I get points for each reaction. Thanks...
Enjoy!!
FYI from AI search: "Are egg whites runny with an over easy egg?"
No, over easy, over medium, and over hard eggs are not supposed to have runny whites. The "over" in their names refers to the fact that the egg is flipped during cooking, ensuring the whites are fully cooked. The terms "easy," "medium," and "hard" refer to the yolk's consistency, with "easy" indicating a runny yolk, "medium" a slightly runny or jammy yolk, and "hard" a fully cooked yolk. [1, 2] Here's a breakdown: [1, 2]
• Over Easy: The egg is flipped and cooked briefly on the second side, resulting in a fully cooked white and a runny yolk. • Over Medium: The egg is flipped and cooked slightly longer than over easy, resulting in a fully cooked white and a yolk that is partially runny, often described as "jammy". • Over Hard: The egg is flipped and cooked until both the white and yolk are fully cooked...

She apologized and said that the situation was not handled how it should’ve been. And that they will make an adjustment for the missing items on our bill. With this being the first negative experience we’ve had with Kite & Key, we will definitely return in the future to try again.
Embarrassing service. Missing items. Rude staff.
Ordered online for a pickup. Instructed to go to the coffee shop in the back of the building where there’s just a patio and an unmarked black door!
I go into the restaurant and I’m directed to exit the restaurant, walk around the block, through their patio, through a black, unmarked door, and into a tiny uncomfortable “coffee bar “where I am elbows to elbows with customers, after a few minutes I’m greeted by a worker who asked me my name, and then points to my food while interrupting me And saying “it’s right there. “
I get our food back home and find out that the gravy is missing from my biscuits and gravy. So I called the restaurant and speak with Jennifer, who gives me attitude because we don’t want to drive back to the store, and all she can offer is a note that says that we can have a free gravy next time we’re there, and says that she couldn’t offer anything else because they’re in the middle of a shift right now( I would hope so, you’re open). Jennifer was not very understanding to the fact that, no, I don’t want to go back out of my way to drive there to correct your mistake.
Will not be returning....
Read moreWell, I waited just under an hour for my food ( where is Gordon Ramsay when you need him) and the service was not that great, but with an hour wait it has to be subpar service; there's only so many coffee refills the server can bring. The food was just okay, nothing spectacular, but with an hour wait, I was pretty upset, so it would have taken a meal from a professional chef to satisfy me. Every customer seems to have had the long wait, I couldn't see what the issue was, but it is embarrassing for any restaurant to have customers waiting an hour for breakfast. Unless you wanna wait, I wouldn't go back to this place. Not to forget, they have only one restroom, which is another problem.
Update. Apparently, the coffee shop has a restroom too. I believe the coffee shop is located behind the restaurant, which is only accessible by walking outside and around to the rear of the building right? Unless one can walk through...
