I am completely disappointed in the service and food quality at the westside LJS in Evansville. I'll admit, you can expect a lower quality product and minimal customer service when you come to any restaurant 10 minutes before closing time. However, their FB page said they were open until 10, I arrived around 8.40. Apparently, the westside location closes at 9. Oops. So, I was rushed while trying to place a large order for my family and waited about 10 minutes. Of course, the order I was given was wrong. That wasn't my main concern though. When I drove around, at exactly 9pm, to ask someone for the right food, the lights shut off and I was ignored at the window. I don't know if this was intentional or not. While still outside the restaurant, I called and spoke with a manager about missing side items, the "friendliness" of staff and the food quality (grease spilled EVERYWHERE when I was checking the food & some food was hot/some cold). She said they didn't have any food left to replace it with so I asked to bring the food back for a refund; that was also a hard no. "Refunds can only be issued on the day the food was purchased and the drawer is closed for today, you'll have to come back tommorow or take a $5 voucher." I spent more than $21 so a voucher wont suffice, especially since I do not plan on returning. The manager tried to be nice but I still felt as if they were all bothered by the fact that they had a last minute customer. & I can guarantee that getting my refund will be an ordeal; time consuming at the very least. Besides, she said refunds can only be issued on the day the food was purchased. 💁 Hopefully management...
Read moreIf you'd asked me 20 years ago what the best, most consistent-quality fast food place on the west side would be, I would've laughed in the face of anyone who said Long John Silver's.
Yet here we are. Yeah, it's deep-fried within an inch of its life. Yes, they probably are keeping multiple plumbers in business on this side of town. Even with all that said: the food has been consistent, the service has always been pleasant, the prices remain largely the same, and it's easily located with an access point to the Lloyd.
McDonald's, Arby's, Taco Bell, and all the others were so obsessed with renovating into new looks and implementing app-ordering they forgot to just... treat workers halfway decently so they don't all quit. Sure, this location is literally the same as it was in the 2000s and everything looks worn-down from decades of use. In a world where you have to actively police your fast food orders now to ensure you didn't get shorted anything, Long John Silver's has yet to fail me a single time over the past two years. That is HIGH PRAISE I cannot give to literally any other fast food chain on this side of town. Literally everyone else has screwed up...
Read moreWe both had the dinner with 2 pieces of fish, 6 shrimp, and 2 sides. The shrimp was good on both plates, crispy on the outside, moist inside, nice size. The slaw was good, nice portions. The waffle fries could have been fried a bit longer, but nice portion size. On one plate both pieces of fish were good. On the other they should not have served the one piece. It was quite a bit smaller than the other piece, and when frying the size was not taken into consideration. This fish piece was all batter and chewy inside the batter. It was inedible. I should have said something, but by the time I had tried to eat it, it was such a small piece there wasn't enough left to show the manager! The cashier was friendly and polite. The restroom needs a good cleaning, maybe a bit...
