It's no wonder that Wendy's is shutting down shops across the country. Based on this visit, my desire to eat another Dave's Classic Double probably won't return, and that's sad because it has been my number two double cheese burger (behind Culver's double) for a long time.
Sure, I arrived at the counter 12 minutes (10:18am) before "official" burger sales started, but ignoring me did not improve this visit. (I knew I was early and was in no rush, so I was willing to wait, but a good morning, I'll be right with you, or welcome to Wendy's would have been nice)
The first person to greet me was a young lady, maybe 18 or 19. She was pleasant enough, but her body language was saying, "Why are you here before we're ready to sell burgers?" She let me know I was early and walked away. I went back to my car and contemplated leaving, but I really wanted a Wendy's burger. (later to discover that the burgers sucked)
At 10:28, I went back in, this time greeted by a young man, maybe 20, and he was ready to take my order BEFORE it was time, WTH!
I placed my order and requested that both sandwiches(ordering for wife who was at work) not have onions. By his reaction, anyone watching would have thought I had just called his mom a bad name, LOL.
He sat my drink cups on the counter. I told him I was going to get my drinks and take them to my car and that I'd be right back. He gave no response and appeared to be indifferent.
I filled my drinks and took them to the car. When I returned, my order was waiting on the counter, not bad for "we're not ready to make burgers yet." (from time I ordered until I came back in, maybe 4 minutes had passed)
The boy who took my order was speaking to, I assume, two of his friends because when he saw me come back in, he kind of shushed them away.
I had forgotten to ask for Mayo on my wife's sandwich, so I asked for a couple of Mayo packs. The boy told me, "I don't think we have Mayo," and I insisted (politely) that he checked to make sure. I watched this boy step out of sight, turn around, and tell me, "we don't have Mayo."
Evansville, Indiana, at one time, had 5 Wendy's to choose from. They're now down to one. I can only guess that whomever the local franchise owner is is to blame for them shutting down.
Hiring teenagers is a good thing, work experience, life experience is something we all need growing up, but seemingly not caring if your customers are happy with the food or service is, in my opinion, why shops are closing.
Food: I ordered 2 $5 Biggie bags - a double cheeseburger, 4 piece chicken nuggets, fries, and a drink.
The only thing to praise was that there were no onions, as requested.
The burgers were dried out, and the assembly seemed like someone with a seizure disorder put them together. The pickles for my sandwich were there, but they were inside the wrapper pressed against the bun.
The fries, limp, and very soggy.
The chicken nuggets were mushy.
However, the pack of BBQ was tasty.

Read moreI'm not going to this Wendy's again for a long long time. Once a month I have an event on the west side and afterwards we go to this Wendy's. The last 3 times it was horrible. I always order on the app (for the deals and points). We ordered a plain Dave's Double combo with a vanilla Frosty, a Son of Baconator, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and 2 orders of fries. We pull up to the drive thru to pick up the order (that and the dining room is closed because their air conditioner is broken) and the lady said "it's gonna be a while, to let you know we're out of bacon for the night." That sucks because I got a Son of Baconator. Then she disappears. Many minutes later she comes back on the speaker and I tell her that I have a mobile order, tell her my name, and she gets a worse attitude and tells me to pull around. We get to the window and she she says they're out of vanilla Frosty and only have chocolate. My son hates chocolate. I ask for a refund for the Frosty and that may her more mad. She ended up giving me $3 and change back. Then disappears. No mention of my pre ordered sandwich with bacon. Comes back with 2 bags, says "have a nice day" then disappears again. We pull off and get home to see that they only gave us 2 orders of fries. There was also a fully loaded Dave's Double (the opposite of our order and my son won't eat it), a double cheeseburger drenched in ketchup and mayo, and a chicken sandwich with an insulting little bit of lettuce. These people just don't give a damn. Wendy's used to be a treat and now they're bottom of the barrel. Stay away from this one if you want what you ordered, and you want to be treated with any amount of respect. Lesson learned....
Read moreFirst I would like to say that Wendys is my husbands and Is favorite fast food restaurant and we eat there at least once a week. I thought that there couldn't be a worse Wendy's than the one on North First Ave, but I was wrong. My husband works very close to the St Joe location so that is why he picked up the food there. I was on the phone with him while he was there and the person taking his order was so rude and sounded very angry in general. He clarified what all we wanted. I always get a 4 for 4 with a crispy chicken sandwich and then I order another crispy chicken sandwich as well without a meal. He clarified this multiple times that we wanted another one as well as the one that came in the 4 for 4, so there wouldn't be any confusion. He also asked for a few more honey mustards. The fries were gross, the chicken on the one chicken sandwich I actually got was so overcooked it was hard and very thin, and one honey mustard in with an order with 2 4 for 4s when we asked for extra. We called the location many times to see if we could just get another sandwich, they wouldn't answer the phone. It just rang and rang and rang with no response. Do not go to this Wendy unless you don't want to get what you paid for, and experience bad service. If you want good wendy's, go to the one on Burkhardt by the Walmart and best buy. That is the best one...
