Disgusted with the attitude of the woman behind the counter. Visiting the area and had 45 minutes to kill before going to dinner at Camellias. My husband and I wanted to have a drink and appetizer to try Nellys. As soon as we walked into the restaurant side of the gas station where this is located the woman behind the counter mumbled something to the person behind her at the grill. She started shaking her head and saying no. We were there 45 minutes before advertised closing which is 5 pm. My shocked expression must have caught her off guard bc she backtracked but we immediately said no thank you and exited. It was very uncomfortable, rude and extremely unprofessional. She could have simply said I'm sorry folks, due to lack of business we have closed the grill down for the day. We would have gladly returned over the course of our stay to try it. I would never consider returning nor recommending a business where the employees act as though your business is not wanted. Very embarrassing for my husband and I as we felt we...
Read moreWe stopped here on our way out of Everglades City and were blown away by the quality of food at a gas station. They apparently just opened, but the chef has clearly been cooking a long time. The Eggs Benedict are MASSIVE and entirely scratch made. You can get several variations - I’m sure they’re all fantastic. The chicken in the chicken and waffles was perfectly cooked (the waffles were a bit dense for my liking though). Great steak and eggs (but again, get the steak and eggs benedict instead if you’re at all inclined instead). And definitely add some ricotta donuts and a sticky bun to your order to share. They’re perfect with the very solid coffee they...
Read moreNice place to visit. The owner is super nice, but getting food was challenging. We fish, and wanted to get some famous brisket sandwiches to take on the boat. Went there three times. 1045, unable to get sandwiches until 11 am. Disappointed, so sat down and ordered breakfast, took longer than expected. Went the next day. This time around lunch, we could still smell the brisket. We went up to the lady to order 4 brisket sandwiches, and she said they were closed. We loved this place and went back every day just for the atmosphere. It's a fisherman's paradise inside, lots of equipment. We love to...
