Our second time going and each time is better than the time before and the first time was awesome. We went on Sunday, March 17, 2024, and of course it being St. Paddy's day, all the staff were dressed in their green. We sat at the bar near the door and were promptly greeted by the bartender who didn't hesitate to introduce herself. "Hi, I'm Rachel and I'll be taking care of you today" Our group loved her, from the introduction to the 5 in our group to the time we left, she was TOALLY awesome! I immediately said to Rachel, can you get the manager, I want to tell them of the great service and how skilled she was with her customer service. She pointed down to the end of the bar where I approached Dave the manager. He was working diligently on his laptop and although I didn't want to bother him, I had to let him know what a great job Rachel was doing in the short time we sat at the bar. It turned out to be a good 15/20 minute conversation as he was very engaging and interested in me sharing the great service news with him. I said all too often, with so many reviews for any service industry, everyone only posts poor or bad reviews and I like to accentuate the positive and post good reviews when service is great and Rachels service this St. Paddy's day was above and beyond and it was a full bar. I also have to mention the teamwork involved since the bar was packed, we didn't have to wait long before one of Rachel teammates jumped into action filling up our order. Cole and Mike were equally as stellar with their excellence in service. Both were not only great with their personality (which so many place we go to, bartenders lack personality) but this whole crew had so much bubbly personality and loaded with "excellence in service" we just sat there and loved every bit of what was before us. Great teamwork Rachel, Mike, and Cole what a stellar job taking care of our group. Know we appreciate you all!!!!!!!! And Dave, thanks for taking the time to chat with me!!!!!!!!!!! It was a pleasure meeting all of you!!! David and...
Read moreThis restaurant is located in Marlton, NJ. There is another branch of the restaurant which is located at Beach Haven, NJ. This location has only been open since February. In all honesty, I was pretty disappointed with my first visit back in March as I had bad drinks, nasty nachos, and basic Buffalo tenders during happy hour. I thought I should give the place another try as they may have worked on their service and mistakes from when they newly opened. I am glad I gave this place another chance. I was not disappointed. This visit, I tried their breakfast/brunch menu. I wanted something savory and sweet. For my meal, I had the classic Steak & Eggs. I had my steak prepared medium rare and my eggs prepared over medium. The meal is accompanied with home fries and toast. My steak was prepared just the way I like. The potatoes were flavorful and crispy. For something sweet, I ordered a half portion of their Cinnamon Roll French Toast. So good! I highly recommend this dish. The dish consists of a freshly baked cinnamon roll dipped in egg batter and griddled, topped with powdered sugar. For cocktails, I had the Watermelon Mimosa and the Cucumber Pomegranate Spritzer. Both cocktails were great. I was a little disappointed that the Watermelon Mimosa came in a wine glass instead of a tall flute glass which really was not that big of a deal. It just looks good aesthetically. The price of the dishes and the drinks were pretty reasonable. My server for this visit was Gabriela. She was very sweet and attentive. The place is filled with chicken caricatures of hollywood celebrities and the vibe is very family friendly and cool. Would love to try dining al fresco as they have a beautifully decorated patio and fire pits. The place and the bathroom was pretty clean. I would definitely pay a visit again with some friends as this place had redeemed itself from my first visit. I rate this place a 3.8. Check out their FB and IG pages The Chicken Or The Egg...
Read moreMy wife, her mother and I joined two relatives for a "brunch/lunch" at The Chicken Or the Egg this late morning. I want to emphasize that it took a lot for me to write this, as I usually (actually almost NEVER) have written a negative review): I worked in the service industry prior to starting my career, so I know how difficult it can be. But after much deliberation, I decided to write it.
First the positives: the interior of the restaurant was massive and seemed welcoming, and the decor was fun and playful. Our server, who was most likely new, did a great job (mistakes happen, but there is NO blame placed on her shoulders). Those were both great.
However, the sticking point was the food, which seemed to be not on the same level as the price that they were being sold for. For example: I ordered an "Eggwich," sans bacon and with my homefries "surprised" (added cheese, onions, and peppers). The latter came out unsurprised, and the sandwitch without the cheese it so desereved and needed. The result was fine - but not spectacular. And this was all for essentially $9.00 ($8.99). A similar experience happened with my iced coffee. Look, I was a former bartender and server, and I know how difficult it is to consistently produce results. But it was just disappointing. We mentioned the homefries to our server, and she couldn't have been nicer (we politely refused her offer to take it back and add the toppings). I think, in all honesty, their back-of-the-house may have even been understaffed.
I do not place the onus on our server, but the restaurant leadership. I have heard tremendous things about the original restaurant in Beach Haven, and it saddens me that we did not all enjoy our experience (everyone in our party mentioned that we would not be...
