A Family Affair Italian Deli & Catering — Restaurant in Fair Lawn

Went here for the first time today. I’m a huge fan of local mom & pop Italian deli’s…good thing there’s a plethora of these here in Bergen County.

I perused the menu before heading over as I recently took a job not far from here and saw the description of a sandwich on their website that really jumped out to me. It was their #30 aka Arthur Ave. It consisted of chicken cutlets, topped with hot soppressata, fresh mozzarella and house made pesto on a crusty seeded Italian hero loaf.

I’m all too familiar with having gotten many a sandwich that sounded fantastic on paper but was disappointed in the end result due to either poor execution or just ingredients that didn’t pass muster. That was not the case with this sandwich. You could tell every component was high quality from the amazing chicken cutlets (which on their own are delicious), fresh house made mutz, house made pesto, high quality Soppressata to the locally sourced fresh baked bread. These combined to make an amazing sandwich and I enjoyed every bite.

Seeing the size of the sandwich, I fully expected to save half for later…yeah no chance of that happening as I killed the whole thing in one sitting. The cherry(s) on top (as seems to be the rule, not the exception at establishments of this ilk) were the awesome people/family that runs the place. A big thank you to Family Affair, in Fair Lawn, NJ for making our New Years a big success.. It was small gathering of 5 due to the times.. a last minute dinner.. called Family Affair and spoke with Eddie the owner - who came to my rescue - In the middle of one of his busiest times of the year - Eddie gave me platinum service and answered every question I had.. he created a perfect menu and went beyond all my expectations.. great service, fresh, delicious food and with an extremely caring attitude... I have such respect, gratitude and appreciation for his true passion for making everything morsel of delicious food absolutely perfect...

The Family Affair deli is a great local spot for quality sandwiches. Quality ingredients and food prepared with great care.

They have an extensive menu of specialty sandwiches and can make anything else you might request. The bread is always fresh and delicious. In addition to sandwiches there are sides, pasta salads and lots of homemade deserts.
