River Road Hot Bagels — Restaurant in Fair Lawn

"I POSTED A PIC OF MESSY SANDWHICH!" ...Ketchup all over the bagel which made it soggy and discgusting.

I walked in and had to order both something from the grill and something not from the grill this morning. Waited the longer line out of the courtesy trying not to cut other people around me waiting also. Once I got to the front I ordered both egg and cheese and bagel with cream cheese, the one cashier told me I had to wait the other line, so I did, then I ordered both again from the other cashier, which again sent me to the other line. Finally I yelled out my order to the chef and thankfully he made it and said don't worry about the line it's okay, but then when I was paying the young boy cashier gave me an attitude again while I was staying quiet just trying to pay and leave. STAY AWAY!!!! I never write reviews but this place got me!!! When I went there during pandemic I noticed they weren't using gloves the pandemic and was shocked by that! I refused to take my order even thought I paid for it. I did not want my refund I just did not want to get sick from the hygiene of this place. Back then one of the owners ran outside to apologize and I thought I would give it another try one day. Today we called ahead of time to order pick up. The man on the phone was screaming at us that he doesn't have time to deal with it..... I mean I was speechless! There's a reason this place is a full 5 stars. The service, the food, the quality... I've lived in NJ most of my younger life and I've sampled many a bagel shop and this particular place hit home in a way I can't explain. If I could go here every day I would, and I have been this week. The bagels are phenomenal... the best I've ever had and arguably the best in the tri state area. If you are remotely near Fair Lawn NJ you need to stop here for breakfast, you won't be disappointed. Only thing missing are egg bagels and don't expect rolls, this is a bagel only shop...but why go for a roll when their bagels are just that good.
