We were greeted promptly upon entering, the host was very friendly and sat us quickly. Our server came relatively quickly to offer us drinks and water.
Raspberry Lemonade: Was amazing~ Was sweeter than most lemonades, but for me that's perfect. Did have to stir it myself but that's not too bad 5/5
French Onion Soup: Was VERY flavorful, the cheese was perfectly melted on top and the soup itself was hot. 5/5
Salad: So this is where it starts to fall off. I asked for a Cesar Salad no dressing add chicken. It came with the dressing, which that by itself is okay I guess, but the CHICKEN? It was so dry and the only flavor it had was that of the char. My croutons were also soggy. Otherwise, the lettuce was a nice green color and the parmesan was delicious. 2/5
Prime Rib: Again, the meat was so dry. I had asked for medium cooked, but it didn't actually seem to be medium cooked. Along with being dry for a prime rib, it was tough and lacked flavor. To make matters worse, it comes with mashed potatoes, I switched out for mac and cheese while my mom had the mashed potatoes and gravy. The little bit i tried of the mashed potatoes, they were very grainy, similar to what you might expect of boxed mashed potatoes. The mac and cheese... was kraft. With nothing added to at least make it flavorful. I was very disappointed, and would not have ordered it if I had known. 1/5
Now we were honest about our overall disappointment in the meal and the server got the manager to talk to us. While i appreciate the effort to make it right, he was very much on the defensive. I can understand if we came off as aggressive, but we honestly at that point had resigned ourselves to leaving in disappointment. He brought out another prime rib, which was a huge improvement to the ones we had originally received, but only my mom was offered this new prime rib. We also tried the mashed potatoes he brought out with this new plate and they were also grainy. He did offer me some fries, but while they were crispy, they lacked flavor.
Overall, me and my mom agreed that for the drive ( 11 min ) and price ( $94 pre-tip ), it really wasn't worth it to only like the French onion soup and the lemonade, especially since the reason we went was for the prime rib. It definitely doesn't help to think there is not as much love going into the side dishes. I mean for the mac and cheese to be Kraft straight out the box is honestly a little...
Read moreI had the unfortunate experience of witnessing the utter lack of compassion and empathy at P.J. Skidoos, a restaurant that claims to offer hospitality but evidently falls short in the most basic of human decency.
While dining at this establishment, I encountered an elderly homeless woman who bravely walked in and asked if someone could spare her a meal. Displaying a modicum of humanity, I offered to buy her food and instructed her to select whatever she desired from the menu. Little did I know that my act of kindness would be met with callousness and disdain from the restaurant's management.
Within minutes, the manager emerged and callously escorted the woman to the lobby, demanding her departure. Despite my protestations and explanation that I had invited her to dine with me, the manager not only refused to serve her but also instructed the kitchen staff to withhold the meal I had ordered for her. This heartless act was compounded by the unnecessary involvement of law enforcement, as a swarm of Fairfax City Police officers descended upon the frail, elderly woman as if she were a dangerous criminal.
The manager's feeble justification for his actions was based on the ludicrous notion that this vulnerable woman posed a threat, a claim that reeks of prejudice and discrimination. It's evident that P.J. Skidoos lacks any semblance of a protocol for handling homeless individuals, preferring instead to treat them as pariahs to be swiftly removed and ignored.
If the presence of homeless individuals truly poses a concern for P.J. Skidoos, there are far more humane and dignified ways to address it. Implementing measures such as having a staff member at the entrance to politely redirect homeless individuals or offering a simple bag with sustenance would demonstrate a commitment to both customer comfort and social responsibility.
As someone who owns multiple businesses, I am appalled by the abhorrent treatment that this woman endured at the hands of P.J. Skidoos. Regardless of her life circumstances, she deserved to be treated with dignity and respect. The callous actions of the staff and management reflect not only a failure of basic human decency but also a shameful disregard for the values of compassion and empathy. I implore anyone considering dining at P.J. Skidoos to think twice before supporting an establishment that values profit...
Read moreTerrible establishment! The 2 female bartenders that worked the night of 4/16 were awful. Completely unprofessional and discriminatory. One of them admitted she was new and training so I can understand her not knowing any better but the lady helping her has no excuse. First we ordered 4 beers which oddly took about 10 minutes for us to get. Then shortly after 1 am we asked if they had last call yet. This is where it gets weird. The bartender informs us that they haven't had last call. We request another round of beers. Shortly the bartender comes back and tells us she can't give us any beer because they already had last call. Confused, we asked when they announced last call as the bartender dissappeared for help again. She came back and informed us that she could give us 4 shots but not 4 beers. Even more confused now , we asked to speak to a manager. the helper bartender appears and tells us its not worth the time of their manager and that it "is what it is" regarding the shots vs beers situation. After further questioning from us, we are informed that we can have shots and not beers because the shots don't take as long to drink! She was very disrespectful and dismissive as we tried to understand this. it's about 1:10 am at this time and they aren't supposed to close until 2 am. If the staff just wanted to close and go home then just say that, don't make up BS about some last call shots only rule. Plus isn't last call supposed to be at 1:30 like evey other bar? We quickly paid our tab and went right down the street to fast eddies and drank beers until they closed like you are supposed to. Don't come to pj skidoos!! Save yourself the hassle, time, and embarrassment and go down the street to fast eddies where they actually appreciate your business and want to serve you. I can't believe we were treated like this here.sadly when I mentioned this to some colleagues, they shared similar experiences and agreed they will never return again!! I'd give it zero stars if I could!! This place is...
