BIG H DELI — Restaurant in Fairfield

I have seen Big H Deli next door to a Subway and the surrounding fast food spots (Wendy's, Arby's, McD's, BK) and some gas stations in Cordelia over the years from long trips for food or gas.

Let me tell you, I don't know if it was time of day on the right day, but I ordered a meal, came with 2 sides, along with a drink. I paid for it and then they gave me an extra side after paying for it. I caught them about 15 minutes before closing (7pm).

I ordered the Gyro plate. The 2 sides: Cucumber Salad and Rice. It looked very good in the deli case. The plate has the usual toppings (Lettuce, Tomato, Onion). The Cucumber Salad has this tangy zesty dressing with herbs and cut tomato wedges. So delicious. If I can drink it in a cup, I would. Mostly how I feel about great tasting salsa.... lol. Anyway, the rice has that traditional Mediterranean flavor and a side of fresh grilled pita bread slices and of course the shaved meat.

According to their menu, they have all kinds of meats. The traditional Chicken, Gryo Meat along with some not-so traditional meats such as (Roast Beef, Pastrami, Turkey) for sandwiches. They even have Philly Cheesesteak. I asked what type of steak. They replied "the roast beef is in it". I thought I is strange type of meat, but okay.

I will give Big H Deli the 5 stars, for service, kind staff and plenty of food. I ate the gyro part of the plate, and have at least another serving of Rice and Cucumber Salad). I got a Pickle too and it was juicy and zesty. So having some left-overs (from the massive serving) that I will go back and have a different food item to go along with them.

May I say, they deserve the covetted 5th star specifically because they honor Military and Veterans with a year-round discount. Tha k you so much. I...

This Fairfield deli has been voted as #1 choice of residents in Solano County for the past several years, which piqued my curiosity and high expectations. I grew up in the Outer Excelsior where every corner bodega made insanely huge deli sandwiches, baklava, gyro's, etc.....Big H is owned by a Greek woman and she offers a plethora of homemade, authentic Greek and American classics., take notes right now! Must haves*Philly cheese steak, Ginormo Gyro's and French Dip!!! Hot&cold deli sandwiches, sliced fresh off the savory smelling pounds, upon pounds of ham, turkey, roastbeef, corned beef and pastrami mami! I am no longer fond of hard sourdough rolls for my deli sammiches, as I am quite attached to the roof of my mouth; so a tiny giggle emerged after waiting for 25 minutes for our to go order, as the deli rolls on our order were still warm from the oven and 2" thick with turkey meat! Hello Love! Get in my belly!!!!! I was a bit disappointed that the California Club is not on their menu, but I enjoyed my huge turkey sammich. I cannot believe I am just now finding out about Big H Deli! Tucked away is this amazing place where food is elevated to art. I had the pleasure of meeting Ed and his staff tonight and they are the nicest people. The cashier was a very nice lady who took great care of us. We ordered 2 spicy chicken schwarma wraps with the works. I was also treated to some of the cucumber and tomato salad and a sample of the amazing roast beef and to top it off a baklava. I have never had chicken that was so fresh and so flavorful. The wrap included tomatoes, lettuce, onion and cucumber in a sauce that kept getting better with each bite. This is now going to be my go-to place for delicious and fresh food. I noticed that most people that were coming in are regulars...good thing my buddy Etienne told me about this place because I am now gonna be a regular. You have got to try the food here...you won't be sorry. The sample of the roast beef was so tender and the sauce they put on it reminded me of my grandmother's slow roasted roast beef with gravy.
