Something Different — Restaurant in Fairfield

One of my favs. Went for a whole chocolate pie for a suprise visit for a friend that had just had to put her kitty down. And unfourtunantly they were out😢not uncommon they are delish and in demand. So instead I chose the Itlaian Cream Cake and a large Brownie with Pecans (they did forget to box the brownie) 😲💔😢.. Also got my ole fav Chicken Salad fruit plate with a scoop of tuna as well. (They did not pack Crackers luckily my friend had some party crackers ) none of these issues will ever stop me from going to this place they are AWESOME people and Amazing food for a little town. I realize some of this is due to Covid-19. Oh they were not wearing mask. Me being from closer to the DFW area walked in masked up to my suprise not 1 employee there had a mask on and it's small quarters in there . Which fine didn't bother me just surprised me. I met my daughter son-in-law and grandbaby here for dinner one night when I was in town. I got the sandwich called sloppy Johnny or something like that. It was good... Got chips with it because they're fries are typical Frozen and the other sandwiches that my family got looked average also. My huge disappointment what's the strawberry cake and lemon pie. Both of these were cold, dry, and tasted extremely fake. Definitely not what I was expecting here when usually the desserts at little places like this is outstanding. Service was fantastic so therefore causes my rating to be higher. As far as the food goes it is just very average Food service diner type food but the desserts lack a lot. If you are looking for a place to pull off the highway and have a meal that is made with care and love then this is a great place to stop. It is definitely a diner in every since of the word, serving up great breakfasts and sandwiches. You can tell that you walked into the place where the locals come to eat when you walk in the door. Every body know the other people and the wait staff are connected to them because they are regulars.
