TX Burger Fairfield — Restaurant in Fairfield

I was weary of coming to this location due to the bad reviews I had read. But I’m glad I paid no mind to them, because I had THE BEST Patty Melt EVER from here two days ago on our “all over Texas road trip” after being all over for two weeks staying in small town hotels and trying out new places to eat. This has to be by far my favorite so far! My husband had their bacon burger with a rootbear float and he was very impressed! Onion rings were perfect, fries were perfect! Everything was great! We got fast service. We got service with a smile from the guy at the register, to the lady who brought out our food, and the polite young man who scooped our bluebell ice cream for us after we ate and were on our way out. He was very patient and stayed smiling even when my 4 yr old couldn’t make up his mind on what to get for a total of 6 minutes :/ I apologized and he said no problem ma’am, and kept smiling. First of all, the food wasn't actually as bad as I thought it would be based on appearance and time. We waited 15 minutes and the dining area was dirty - every table needed to be wiped off, the place looked tore up (broken benches, wobbly chairs and the wall near the windows were messed up) and the floor was dirty. We waited about seven minutes in line and there was only one person in front of us. Then we waited 15 minutes for the food. We ordered one bacon burger combo and one bacon cheeseburger with a side of onion rings. When it came out, the burgers were switched around and they forgot the fries which were brought out a minute later. Considering that I don't really like breaded onion rings, these were quite good - crispy and with good flavor. The fries were seasoned and fresh, also good. Service was slow at the counter-the young lady didn’t seem like she wanted to be there. After we ordered ($22) we had a hard time finding a clean table (not because they were busy - we got there at noon) looked like it was from the night before. Crumbs in the floor, cups left on tables, and the so called clean tables were yucky sticky!! The young lady that brought the food to our table seemed friendly. But, the Burgers were mediocre at best. The fries were not hot & fresh - they were just warm and tasted like old grease. Definitely not worth the $22. Also the ladies room was disgusting! Dirty, toilet paper in the floor, toilets dirty (without being gross, but you know what I’m talking about).. just an overall bad experience. Sad, because we really wanted to like this place.
