NOTE: Read through to the end
The first sketchy thing I noticed was this restaurant goes by Dumpling House on Ubereats, but goes by Green Leaf at its physical location. It took me a while and a Google search of the address to realize Dumpling House and Green Leaf are one and the same. Furthermore, the lady at the register confirmed this information when asked.
On 1/7/2022, I ordered chicken broccoli with fried rice, a large chicken noodle soup, and a shrimp egg roll. The lady at the register was the one preparing my large chicken noddle soup. As I was waiting for my food, I noticed she took a suspicious double take at me to see if I was looking at what she was doing. I could not believe my eyes. The lady was attempting to scoop some “mystery thing” out my soup. When confronted, she said the soup was cold and that she wanted to reheat it. However, I’m not sure why the soup would be cold considering it was just removed from their piping hot wok. Also, I’m not sure why soup being cold would warrant her scooping anything off it and looking at me suspiciously. She then discarded that soup’s broth BUT retained the noodles. She then tried to add those dirty noodles to new soup broth AND SERVE IT TO ME. Yuck.
Additionally, I watched 2 delivery people walk from outside straight into the kitchen without washing their hands and touch food and kitchen items. Namely items belonging to the frier area and a few of the uncovered food plates from orders placed either by phone or online. When confronted again, the lady at the register down played the severity of the delivery people’s actions.
As I was confronting the lady at the register about dissatisfaction with the cleanliness of the restaurant, it occurred to me she wasn’t wearing a mask and that HER NOSE was actually actively DRIPPING. She kept trying to suck-up her dripping mucus…the sound of which is probably what drew my attention to the fact that she wasn’t wearing a mask. Honestly, I can only imagine what she was really trying to scoop out my soup (if you know what I mean).
Anyway, I did not stick around to find out. I had her refund my money and I left (receipt attached as proof). Please beware. This establishment is not handling food safe or clean.
Update* RESPONSE TO OWNER’S Reply: I visited the restaurant at 8:50pm. Check the receipt. The store’s hours are listed as until 10:45pm/10:40pm on Fridays. Fridays are a prime time for Chinese food. You’d like someone to believe the gas was off 1 hour and 55 minutes before close on a prime night. Furthermore, if the gas was off, all the food would have been cold. Owner’s response fails to address the dripping nose and no mask. Fails to address the 2 delivery people in the kitchen without washing their hands. The apology is insult to injury. CONSUMER BEWARE. Don’t be...
Read moreI’m a little annoyed that it took me a while to find this place on google to review it. This is because I know this place as Dumpling House not Green Leaf. Not sure if Dumpling House is the ghost kitchen or if Green Leaf is the ghost kitchen.
We ordered roast pork lo mein, beef dumplings, scallion pancake, vegetable dumplings, and soup dumplings. The food was pretty good but I have a problem with their soup dumplings. The chefs at Dumplings House aka Green Leaf need to look up what soup dumplings are on Wikipedia. Instead of two orders of soup dumplings that we ordered, they gave us two quarts of wonton soup broth that had pork dumplings in them. Just because there was soup doesn’t make them soup dumplings. Not even the same flavor profile!! But they were still delicious to eat but we would if preferred what we ordered: soup dumplings.
The chef specialities they offer include Buffalo wings, chicken wings, and French fries. I think one of the chefs at this restaurant used to work at Buffalo Wild Wings. Which would make sense why it would be...
Read moreIt's average Chinese food. But what gets me upset not once or twice but almost every time is that when I order online, I write specific requests. "Please add chopsticks. No water chestnuts." They never give me water chestnuts but almost always forget my utensils. They had to have read that I'd like chopsticks to have read alsp not to include chestnuts, no? Regardless, it's like winning the lottery when we get utensils. Also, we have neighborhood complaints on my dogs barking at the bell. So we ask them to call. They call... and then immediately start spamming our doorbell. Food is ok. Their ability to follow requests (not hard one's at...
