McGovern's Family Restaurant and Banquet Facility — Restaurant in Fall River

Not even sure where to begin since I typically don’t write reviews, I’ll start with the fact that yes their prices are really reasonable(for this function), I can give them that. Due to the pandemic which I understand how certain places might feel about it, etc. My experience was as follows. I was scheduled to have a baby shower on Sunday, 10/25 and was going to have about 60 people, socially distanced by tables, etc. Fall River was in a red zone on Wednesday and the restaurant notified me Thursday morning so which meant & they told me I had to decrease my party to 25 people, I was somewhat ok with it. A suggestion to them was to have 2 groups of 25 people each at different time intervals. The restaurant said that wouldn’t be a bad idea and that we would discuss times on Friday morning. Friday morning comes around, we confirmed times, etc. Not even 2 minutes later (yes 2 mins) AFTER confirming times I get a call saying they can’t do my party for many different reasons/excuses that just didn’t make sense to me, but hey does it need to? The banquet cook was sick with pancreatitis but was tested negative for Covid and they were short staffed and didn’t have anyone else to make the food. I asked about any other cooks or catering service or simply ordering from another restaurant. Nope, they couldn’t accommodate because the restaurant was going to be closed until Tuesday anyway due to all of this and the restaurant cook doesn’t know how to cook banquet style food. So of course I go ahead and do what I have to do and figure out another plan, no big deal just last minute. Do you know they called me Saturday early afternoon (day before my shower) to tell me they can now do my party?! Yeah that’s pretty “ballsy” McGovern’s. Thanks...

Just had my daughters sweet 16 and the whole experience was excellent!! Kathy was very helpful from the 1st moment we met up until the night of the event, even giving me tips on what to do with decorations as this was my 1st time throwing a big party like this. The night of the party was exceptional!! All of the banquet servers were great! They decorated all the tables for us exactly the way we had imagined, and it looked beautiful!! Jose was amazing!! He was so attentive to me and my daughter, making sure that everything was taken care of and that my daughter was happy the entire time. She was soo happy that he took so much time to talk to HER and make sure that things were going the way she wanted and that she was always happy throughout the entire night. I can't say enough good things about that man!! And the food was delicious!! Everyone at the party enjoyed it and had an excellent time! On top of it they were the most affordable place around. I would definitely have another event here if I ever have one again, and would definitely recommend it to anyone, you won't be disappointed!! We got our table and took 1.5 hours just for the food to come out.

It took another 30 minutes just to get the check

We were genuinely ignored, treated other customers with more respect, and never came back to our table after the food was ordered to see if we needed a refill or anything. We were not even asked for dessert

I was then granted a small portion of pasta and there was more sauce than pasta and also ate it in 3 minutes. (It was good which boosted it up 1 star)

The atmosphere looked disorganized with cheap, plastic tables with a table cloth in the back, but the front is a little bit nice which boosted it 1 star.

DO NOT COME HERE ON HOLIDAYS OR YOU WILL HAVE THIS SAME THING HAPPEN TO YOU.
