My wife and I stayed overnight at the Lizzie Borden house and in the morning we stopped by Miss Lizzie's Coffee. From the second we walked into the shop, we were greeted by two very nice gentlemen, one behind the counter and the other sitting at a table. They were so nice! Right then and there I knew this was my type of place.
We got to talking about our stay at the Lizzie Borden house and came to find out that the gentleman sitting at the table is the coffee shop owner, Joe. His deep knowledge of the crime and just the overall history of Fall River made me want to spend the whole day there with him!
We ordered our coffees which were DELICIOUS. They have something for everyone...plenty of options. It was quite literally the best coffee I have ever had. Just when we thought it was time to leave, Joe asked if we wanted a tour of the basement (which many people don't know the history of this building, just next door to the Lizzie Borden murder house...I highly suggest googling about it). Joe took the time to give us a tour of the whole building and even showed us where the murders of two children took place in the basement. He is determined to keep it as original as possible...so much so that the smell of the basement still has that of ether from when a physician of the time had performed numerous surgeries, etc. AGAIN, YOU NEED TO LEARN ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THIS BUILDING IF YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW ABOUT IT.
What impressed me the most about Joe is that he isn't in it for the money. He believes in preserving history and learning from it. The tour was free of charge and he even gave me a small present because it was my birthday. When I asked if I could give a donation, he immediately said he tells people to donate to a charity that helps women who suffer from postpartum depression, as was the case of Eliza Borden who killed her two children in a well in the basement.
Not only does Miss Lizzie's Coffee provide customers with great coffee, it is also an art gallery with multiple rooms for enjoying local art and purchasing Lizzie Borden "swag".
Joe absolutely made my birthday one of the best ever. It was truly an honor to meet him and if anyone is ever in Fall River, YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT MISS...
Read moreMe and my mother came here today and not only is it the pinnacle of lizzie history. The staff are also so wonderfully friendly that it feels like visiting family even as a first time customer. A1 since day 1. What I didnt know is the upstairs areas are accessible and it has tons of space and seating throughout. Its very great for tourists. Its a coffee shop that also acts as an art gallery and a historical building as well due to the dark history. The building imo is more haunted and creepy than the Borden house next door. Due to the double homocide of children that happened here. Plus the suicide of the mother. Which is so sad. So while lizzie is the theme. The haunted history goes deeper. I love this place! Truly will return. The coffees flavors are so diverse. Lavender was what I got. It was delicious. The sausage was cooked in house. Yummy and real ingredients. Plenty of options. The gift shop is also really a plus.
On a side note - many people in this city myself included dont support bullying. It pissed me off what was done to these good people who dont deserve it. I am happy what this business stands for on an ethical and moral level to help free use of historical figures. I will always support freedom of history and small business. Its very important what yall are doing for this city. So much love for that. Fall River loves Miss Lizzies Coffee shop.
We also spoke to the owner, the staff and other patrons. All of which are kind. And very passionate about the history.
I am blown away by the service. And especially the building itself. Enjoyed every second and...
Read moreMiss Lizzie’s Coffee is EVERYTHING. It redeemed the entire trip down to Fall River! First off, the coffee? Absolutely delicious and it was the kind of cup that makes you want to grab strangers on the street and tell them about it. But the real star were the owners! They were fabulous, funny, and shared Lizzie Borden case details I’d never heard before (mind blown!). On top of that, there were incredible local artisans filling the place with unique, one-of-a-kind creations. And can we talk about Rogue, the cutest little puppy greeter in existence?! She stole my heart instantly. Honestly, stopping here made our trip to the Lizzie Borden house a million times better. If you go to Fall River and don’t hit this spot, you’re doing it wrong. I can't say enough good things about this place to properly explain how truly incredible this coffee shop is! Should I ever find myself in Fall River again - I would definitely come back to this establishment just for the fantastic staff.
Seriously - if you're debating stopping in trust me and just go. Even if you're not interested in the Lizzie Borden case. I was so happy to support these wonderful folks and it was truly the highlight of our trip down to Fall River.
TLDR: GO TO MISS LIZZIES COFFEE RIGHT NOW - YOU...
