T.A. Restaurant — Restaurant in Fall River

I really don't know what happened. They used to be such a good restaurant. My husband and I went for lunch, there were probably 6 people there. The service was very slow, and the food took forever. People that were seated after us were served before us. Then,when the food finally came,omg i couldn't believe it. My husband ordered the fried smelts. They were so small and looked like someone ran them over in a car, he had a hard time picking them up. I had the pan seared sword fish. It looked like they opened a jar of spaghetti sauce and just dumped it all over the fish, what a mess,couldn't even taste the fish. When the waitress finally came she asked us how we liked it. We told her about our meals were not good. Sarcastically she looks at the plates and says ,oh i can see it was not good, because we ate some. We responders by telling her we had to eat we where starving. Will never eat there again. I'm a much better cook than whoever is trying to be a cook there. If you want an authentic Portuguese mean with friendly and fast service, not to mention delicious. The only reason we went to this dumb is because the other place was closed. We were out looking for a quiet Sunday night dinner at one of the great Portuguese restaurants in Fall River,MA . We decided to try the well liked TA restaurant on south main street and found a parking spot right in front. We were immediately greeted and seated in the dining area behind the bar, which we would soon regret ! The waitress immediately brought menus introduced her self, told us the specials asked if we wanted drinks and we hadn't taken our coats off! We had Cod Fish cakes appetizer, a bottle of wine, I had the salmon special the presention was lacking, two small dry overcooked filets and two small boiled and a side salad my wife had Shrimp Mozambique, the sauce was boring and far from the best we've had elsewhere. Now the kicker, we sat at the top of the stairs and on the lower level was some event that had a room full of very small children who were a screaming all at once the entire time we were eating.. The parents told the children to be quiet but we're unsuccessful. We skipped desert to get away from the screaming kids, so much for a quiet dinner. I ordered Portuguese kale soup for an appetizer baked stuffed shrimp and a triple chocolate mousse cake for dessert. All the food was excellent and I would eat here again. The reason why I gave the food 4 stars and not five is only because the baked stuffed shrimp came with 3 shrimp and most places come with 4. The reason I gave the service four stars and not five is because the restaurant was not super busy, and I never received my appetizer after I pointed it out they brought it after my main course and I ended up taking it to go. I felt like because it wasn’t that busy. It should’ve been forgotten. regarding the atmosphere. I noticed that everyone had candles on the table but none of them were lit. I feel like that would’ve helped have a romantic atmosphere, and attention to detail is important. All of these things would not be a reason why I wouldn’t go back.
