Hands down the highlight of Falls Church. This small, take-out only restaurant would keep me living in the area, and makes up for the pedestrian unfriendliness of the neighborhood.
To start, this is not a fusion place - you won't get Salvadoran inspired egg rolls. This is two restaurants in one - one menu is Chinese, the other is Salvadoran. You can order off both menus at the same time. We have ordered from here 3 times in 2 months, it's that good. We often get a mix - appetizers from one menu, main dish from the other. I prefer the Salvadoran main dishes, but both have fantastic appetizers.
For the Chinese menu - these are the best crab wantons I've ever had, because they are real crab. Much of the Chinese menu tastes like typical fast food Chinese, but the wontons are a real stand out.
Everything on the Salvadoran menu is fantastic. The platas are filling and a wonderful mix of flavors. This is NOT your typical Mexican/South American fast food - this is the real deal. The puposas are a must for me every time I order.
Prices are reasonable, and pick up has always been easy. Also, I absolutely love the name. If you truly appreciate cheap and authentic ethnic food, get...
Read moreNew Moon Restaurant is a fusion of Chinese cuisine? Salvadoran and Mexican? The new Moon restaurant offers all three cuisines on their very long menus. The restaurant has seating in the adjacent connected BAR/Gambling house?? I look forward to going back and trying the other two cuisines. I used to go to this restaurant on many hungry times. But the quality of food and the owners attitude is just not worth it. Go to Eden Center for better food. They have recently got new owners so maybe the quality of Food and Customer service will be better. Order everything 5 times spicy should you care for spicy food! Everything to the most part is delish, the best thing is the orange chicken and fried rice and highly recommended is The Spicy Chicken Wing Platter. There are plenty of additional options with walking distance so do look at...
Read moreDON’T EAT HERE. The restaurant is close so, sadly I have given this restaurant 4 tries. And each time it’s worse, to the point I HAD to write such a horrible review. They use poor quality, possibly verge of tainted, spoiled meat. Definitely frozen thawed and refrozen meat. When, convenient, they fail to put key ingredients, seasonings required to “Call” a dish, a dish. I’ve never had egg rolls with “jimmy Dean” sausage Links in them. The cashew chicken had chicken that tasted spoiled Pryor to cooking. Paid $40 bucks on 2 entrees and 2 appetizers, only to be severely disgusted Had the Mexican food the time b4. Again, poor quality meat, small tacos, no real combination plates, I didn’t know Spanish people could make beans...
