Tucked away between a jewelry store, plant shop, and mahjong parlor, Nha Trang may not immediately jump out as one of the DMV's best Viet restaurants. However, their authentic cooking, bold flavors, and fresh / high-quality ingredients have absolutely secured this no-frills, hole-in-the-wall spot's place at the top of my tier list.
It's hard to pick my favorite from their expansive menu, but if I had to choose, it would have to be their bun rieu cua. The tomato broth is packed with flavor but still light and refreshing, with the perfect balance of acidity and sweetness from the tomato and tamarind, as well as a rich savory-ness from the crab. They offer a generous helping of seafood, vermicelli, and various veggies, and you're sure to leave full and satisfied. However, if you want something else to whet your appetite, I love their banh beo -- the rice cakes are perfectly steamed, with a light, airy, almost pillow-y texture. And they're the best vehicle for the prawns and aromatic scallion oil.
The service is pretty quick, and it generally only takes 15-20 min. for them to prepare your order for either pick-up / take-out or dine-in. The store has a nice cozy, laid-back vibe if you decide to stay to enjoy your meal, but the food also travels remarkably well if you want to eat at home.
It's a genuinely phenomenal spot -- my only real complaint is that they can be a smidge hard to find because they're tucked inside of one of the mini shopping complexes within Eden Center, so the Google Maps directions are woefully unhelpful. However, once you find your way there, you're sure to have one of the best (and cheapest) Viet meals the DMV...
Read moreService, food, and cleanliness are all lacking. My family always come here to get an order of "nem nuong" rolls to go as they are absolutely delicious. However, my mom decided if we were going to order rolls, then we might as well dine. Food can't be that bad, right? Unfortunately, we didn't get our drinks until after our food came out. Which is fine as I'm not expecting American etiquette here. I got the "bun rieu" as my mother got the "banh mi w/ beef soup" dish. (Excuse my lack of Vietnamese.) Bun rieu was bland but ok. They forgot the banh mi to my mom's dish where she had to flag down a server. The bread they gave her were stale and a little to hard for her taste. She said the soup didn't really taste like beef but it wasn't horrendous. About 5 minutes after receiving our food, I spotted a COCKROACH zooming around my mom's bowl to which we immediately killed it and alerted the server. They didn't make us pay, thankfully, and we also had two to-go orders that we cancelled before leaving. All in all, I would recommend going to one of the far better restaraunts than coming to this one. It was pretty disappointing as this is the only spot with the best nem...
Read moreTucked in the the mall of Eden is this hidden gem. Much like the other restaurants here, there is an authentic charm to this place. The restaurant is small but what they offer is good authentic food. We got a large bbq pork sausage summer rolls for an appetizer. Every time I come here, we always get this. The sauce they come with is so addictive. For our entrees, I got the bun Bo hue and my wife got the mi quang. Both were flavorful and hits the spot. The portions were a decent size as well.
Service is what you expect at Eden, prompt and to no frills. You will leave full and satisfied. Definitely a spot to check out if you are in...
