2022 update: I love Preservation Biscuit Company!! My husband and I came here about 9 months ago, not long after they first opened and were blown away by the flavor combinations and the new take on strawberry shortcake. On this visit we took advantage of the special menu items: The Queen and Marionberry sandwiches. We also ordered the always yummy PBC and a side of fries. The Queen is a combination of fried egg, salmon (lox), arugula, hollandaise and dill sauce on a fluffy biscuit. The egg yolk popped just as I placed the other biscuit half on top and created the perfect photo of the deliciousness I was about to experience. The flavors went together so well....little messy, but I'll take it, since it was good to the last bite! The marionberry ice cream dessert biscuit was a perfect finish to our meal. The ice cream melted nicely into the biscuits and the marionberry/blueberry combination reminded me of why I cannot wait for summer! Both sandwiches feature partnerships with other local small businesses for sustainably sourced local ingredients. The PBC is known awesomeness...if you like fried chicken, shredded cabbage, hot honey, bacon, and smoked gouda pimento spread, this is your sandwich! Even the fries were crispy and delicious. Oh, and the hot or iced coffee is great too. The owner and team at PBC are super friendly and provide a welcoming atmosphere. This is a great business to support during Women's History Month! Thank you team PBC for another great experience and the jam is soooo good!! :-)

Preservation Biscuit is amazing! My husband and I stopped by on a Sunday for a Yelp Elite perk opportunity and we are so glad we did. The location is right next to The Bakeshop, which is also one of our favorites. We ordered the cordon blue, the brekkie, and the strawberry shortie. All three were off the hook delicious. The staff recommended my husband get pimento cheese on the brekkie (he also ordered the egg on the sandwich as fried) and it was a perfect flavor combination. The fried chicken in the chicken cordon blue sandwich had a perfect level of crunch. Now for the super yummy strawberry shortie....this is the perfect summer dessert. Move over angel food cake, biscuits with strawberries and whip cream is here to stay! This is the best take on strawberry shortcake I have ever tasted. Try it yourself before the summer is over....you won't regret it. Thank you to everyone at Preservation Biscuit. You guys are so friendly and helpful.....they even gave us some homemade strawberry jam to take home! I know the pandemic has not been easy on the restaurant industry and I applaud you opening this location during this difficult time. I look forward to coming...
Read moreI was driving through Falls Church and decided to google "vegan breakfast." I was surprised to actually find one that mentioned they had vegan options; however, there wasn't a single vegan option on the menu. Nor were there any plant-based milks, which 9 out of 10 coffee shops now have at no extra charge.
I asked the gal if there were any vegan options and she rambled off a list of names that sounded like Spanish, which I couldn't understand. She kept pointing to the menu board on the wall, but there was nothing there so I was puzzled. I asked her to tell me what things were she was rambling, but she didn't tell me, so I just ordered coffee. Then after I sat down, she came over and showed me a picture of a biscuit with vegan "egg" and vegan "cheese," so I ordered it. The biscuit was so dry that it just crumbled on my plate. It had a slice of tomato and a slice of American cheese (was that even vegan?) on it. All in all it had zero taste and I left half of it. Also, when I got the coffee, she told me to help myself to a creamer. So now it's obvious that she didn't even know what vegan means because the creamers are dairy products. And I'm wondering if the cheese was vegan because she asked me what kind of cheese I wanted, and said, well whichever one is vegan. And the biggest question I have is, are the biscuits made without milk, eggs, and butter? What do you use in their place so that they're vegan? I'd love to know since I felt nauseated when I left.
PLEASE PLEASE don't advertise vegan options if you don't have a single vegan item on the menu and can't tell customers what you're offering. I took a big chance there in trusting that this stuff had no dairy. And tell customers what the "egg" product is as well! What is it made of?
As I was working in the area today, I went out of my way to stop there for breakfast. Don't pull vegan customers in if you can't tell them what you're offering. A picture on your phone isn't good enough. That's what I went by--a photo on the gal's phone, and I decided to trust her because she tried. It's not her fault that the owner didn't train her or tell her what these vegan items are made of, how much they are, what the ingredients are. This just makes you look bad. Oh yeah, I paid $11+ for that biscuit with a slice of American cheese and tomato and "egg." Learned my lesson. If it's not spelled out on the menu, I'm not...
Read morePreservation Biscuit is located in a little strip of stores known as Southgate Village Shoppes just off of S. Washington. Plenty of free parking in the open lot just outside the front door, but a little tight to maneuver.
I went on a Wednesday afternoon, around 2pm. I was the only customer in the shop, and they looked like they were starting their daily end-of-day cleanup (they close at 3pm). I ordered two biscuits to go, one savory and one sweet: The PBC (chicken tenders, hot honey, bacon, Napa cabbage, smoked Gouda pimento cheese, and Dijon mustard) and a Strawberry Shortie (strawberry shortcake). I ate the PBC in the car, and saved the Shortie for later.
The PBC was very tasty, albeit quite messy to eat! It had a great layered flavor, but it didn't stay warm for long in the paper to-go box. I forgot to take a pic of it, likely because I was so hungry and dug right in without hesitation.
The Strawberry Shortie that I enjoyed later had a tiny lidded ramekin of strawberry sauce and one of whipped cream to place on top (so it didn't make the biscuit soggy in the to-go container). It was delicious, and my only complaint was there could have been two plastic ramekins of strawberry sauce and whipped cream to feel like there was enough to fully dress the biscuit.
They offer a few tables inside, and I think the outside section (which looks like a leftover from the Covid era of outdoor dining options) might be theirs as well. Inside had cute decor and an interesting wall mural. Plenty of seating via a few regular 4-tops and some counter seating too.
Whether to enjoy there or at home, both the savory and sweet biscuit options were delicious. Biscuits were not too dry nor too moist, and held up well even with stuffed contents and wet fillings.
Definitely worth a trip for breakfast, lunch, or a yummy to-go...
