Overall, I LOVE this store! If you love cute, unique, kitschy toys, you'll find them here.....I've never seen so many toys I've never heard of that I never knew I needed.....and I'm 49 years old!! They also have the old standbys - Legos, Playmobile, puzzles, stuffed animals, so you won't be disappointed! For their selection and wonderful staff, I'd give them 5 stars, but that's not enough to make up for the few MAJOR drawbacks to this location:
Parking: there's a lot of it, but the store is 100% INACCESSIBLE if you can't navigate stairs. No ramps anywhere, plus a step up into the back door of the shop and only non-handicapped street parking (on a VERY busy road) in front. This is an ADA nightmare, and if you have a child who has mobility issues or is wheelchair bound, you will have difficulty gaining access to the store.
Size: They recently (well, within the last 2 years) reduced their store size, making it VERY tight to navigate. Again, for people who are mobility impaired or on crutches or wheelchair bound, it is a logistical PITA. They have so much to see, and a lot less space to see it all in.....what they lost was maneuverability for their customers.
For me, being mobility impaired, both of these things are an issue....and as much as I love the store and the people who work there, it may be what causes me to stop shopping there. They used to have a second location much closer to my home, but that closed recently....it was much more accessible, much larger, and I wish they'd closed this location in favor of the...
Read moreI LOVED this place growing up. I remember it felt like Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium! The last few times I’ve been to pick up gifts I’ve had really bad experiences with the staff and it seems like that is the general consensus. Every single time I’ve been there in the last 6 months the staff has been a bunch of young ladies who are all chatting and behind the counter and not actively helping out people. I understand that they don’t want to be pushy but I had to say excuse me a few times to get their attention and peel away from their conversation. And when checking out I felt the giant gloomy mood like blank stares. Sometimes they’ll be continuing their conversation while doing the checkout process. And again I understand people aren’t going to smile every second of the day but a little “how was everything?” Or “have a great day” would be nice. I also once asked where a certain toy was located and a girl looked at me dumbfounded and just pointed to the back of the store and sent me looking on my own. I didn’t find it and just walked out the back door. Overall the selection is still good some things are more expensive than online but I’m more than happy to support a small business if I enjoy the experience of shopping there. But I’ll be refraining from shopping here for a while until I feel comfortable to do so again and explore other local toy stores. I really hope their downfall is not...
Read moreIt’s an ok store if you have kids but not so great for adult collectors. I’ll still find something interesting there on occasion which keeps me coming in from time to time but mostly it’s kinda mid, with a Unique inventory organization style that kinda makes sense but is also Kinda confusing. Whereas most toy stores, even small ones, organize toys by play pattern, e.g.: action figures with action figures, Solid plastic animals all together, Barbies with other Dolls etc. but here, while there’s some Semblance of separation by play pattern with Lego being mostly separate from plush and Infant toys, it seems to be mostly organized into far more vague sections based on theme or like what it is, with all things Dinosaur related in one place (be it plastic dinosaurs, Jurassic World toys, Fossil digging sets, plush sand box toys Etc) all the Space and Science stuff in another, all the Star Wars Stuff clustered together in a corner of the lego wall. like I said it makes some sense when you think about it, but it’s definitely chaotic, confusing and Antithetical to how most kids and parents shop. I mean it makes sense if you come in looking for Dinosaurs, but It’s baffling if you’re looking for...
