this afternoon, after devouring a delectable burger, i sauntered over to Duchessa Gelato for a frosty sweetened treat. the moment i entered the treshold, an air of European sophistication enveloped me. i was posthaste transported to my long lost second cousins ice cream shop in long island, new york. as a lassie, i spent many summers, working away at long lost cousin mario’s sugary workshop. as i approached the counter, visions of cousin mario’s gelato artistry pirouetted through my mind, but would duchessa’s pistachio gelato live up to the saccharine visions of my summers in the 20th century? i accepted my cone of pale green ambrosia with a faint heart. i was unprepared. the second the velvety concoction met my tongue, time itself stuttered. the nutty yet candied flavor is like no other i have tasted. not only was this ice cream flavored exquisitely, the texture of it was heavenly. this frozen treat had a elastic stretch to it, unlike no other.
