I have been to this place 3 times - I have lived in Fargo-Moorhead area my entire life. All 3 experiences were a disappointment, including today's experience. First experience eating there was take out - there was more fat/bones in my dish than there was meat - so I just had rice for a lack of better words. Second experience - My husband and I dined in to give it another shot and try some dishes I had never had before. Just pointing and ordering off of the menu. Our waiter judged us for ordering rose milk cause it was a "child's item" and did not inform us which dishes could/could not be order less spicy and gave my husband spicy food that he could not eat. Third tries a charm right? Wrong. Order for delivery as we are unable to leave our home and the same thing happened again as the second time - we got food we were unaware could not be ordered mild - specified it on our order - instead of calling us to clarify, they just gave us spicy food that we could not eat. When we called to confront about the order, the staff on the phone dodged our concerns and could only offer us correction if we were able to come in to the restaurant. As mentioned above, we are unable to leave our home at this time. His counter to that was "just remind me who you are the next time you are able to come in" to make it right. I asked him how he was going to do that - all he did was take down our first names. No phone number. Nothing else. I don't think we will be back to this restaurant. If you want to put down money on truly good indian food and customer service - just go to India Palace. The staff is much more kind and friendly, educational about food/culture, exceptional customer service, and they have never messed up our order once. And the food... just go eat there....
Read moreOf the many Indian restaurants I've visited, this one is among the best! As a vegetarian family we often seek out an Indian restaurant when traveling because we can be pretty sure of getting a satisfying meal. But honestly I was shocked to find such a spectacular Indian restaurant in the small city of Fargo, North Dakota. We ordered off the menu rather than having a buffet. We had the Palak Paneer and Bengan Bartha as entrees, and we ordered plain naan, chai, and a mango lassi. Everything was excellent. Personally I prefer my palak (spinach) less smooth than the way it's served here (pureed), BUT the flavor was rich and the paneer was firm without being tough. Spicy but not too much (served "medium"). The Bengan Bartha was the second-best I've had anywhere - a teeny bit more of a roasted flavor would put it at the top. The flavor was great and it didn't have the greasy feel that I often experience with this dish. Yum! The mango lassi, seriously, tasted like mangoes that had just been pureed in a blender. Their chai surpasses all others. Often chai is served pre-sweetened and it's too sweet for me. This one came to the table unsweetened, with a tea pot containing a second serving and with a small sugar bowl and spoon. Perfect! Highly...
Read moreToday, I had the pleasure of dining at Passage to India in Fargo with my US colleagues and it was an unforgettable experience. The restaurant offers a vibrant and authentically Indian atmosphere, which sets the perfect scene for a culinary journey. The menu is extensive, featuring a range of dishes from various regions of India, each prepared with traditional spices and ingredients that bring out rich, authentic flavors.
The standout dish for me was the Chicken Tikka Masala—perfectly cooked with a creamy, spiced tomato sauce that was an absolute delight. The Naan bread, fresh from the tandoor, was the perfect companion to every dish we ordered.
The service at Passage to India is commendable; the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, ensuring a welcoming dining environment. The overall cleanliness and decor of the restaurant added to a wonderful dining experience.
For anyone in Fargo looking for a genuine taste of Indian cuisine, Passage to India is a must-visit. It’s ideal for a family dinner, a date night, or a festive gathering with friends. I’m already looking forward to...
