This place was one of the most, if not the most, concerning restaurants I have ever had the unfortunate experience of dining in. I had met my parents for a family dinner at this place & they seated us in a corner booth. I look down in the corner & see a GIANT rat trap which has huge red printed letters on it reading, “RAT TRAP”. (See attached photo). Mortified, I immediately alert the server because not only is this absolutely disgusting & also likely a health code violation, this is a major safety issue, as it was so openly exposed, it would have been easy for someone to accidentally get their hand/arm/foot/finger/etc caught in it, especially children. So I’m expressing these concerns to the wait staff & they just seemed utterly confused as to why a customer would find this concerning, acting as if a giant rat trap in a restaurant isn’t a big deal. I asked to speak to a manager & they told me there wasn’t a manager there. But then like 2 minutes later the manager comes out (so clearly they lied about no manager being on duty) & gives us some story about squirrels being lost in the restaurant that they were trying to trap (still equally concerning). I was horrified & wanted to leave immediately but my parents, who are older & non-confrontational, decided to stay & give it a chance (terrible decision). So after the rat trap mishap, you’d think they would have done everything in their power to remedy our experience at this restaurant, but nope. So then we proceed to order & when our food comes, they bring it to the table & then take it away & GAVE IT TO ANOTHER TABLE. So approximately 5min later, I asked where our food went. The waiter says that they accidentally gave it to another table. I’m like, “Are you serious? Were you going to even come tell us!?...” I was in utter disbelief at this point with the [lack of] service & cleanliness & the attitudes of carelessness by the waitstaff and manager in this restaurant. So finally, our food comes, although I was 100% hesitant to ingest anything in this disgusting place at this point (I was seriously starting to believe they were probably catching rats to cook into their food there the way things had been going...) & I’m pretty upset about the whole experience at this point, assuming they will at least comp/discount the meal at this point, but NOPE. They wanted us to pay full price for the meal & acted as if nothing out of the norm happened & like nothing was wrong. Not one person ever directly apologized about anything. I’m never usually one to argue with a bill or cause a scene, but I was absolutely shocked that there wasn’t ever even an apology & so I was like, “You’re seriously going to charge us full price like nothing happened after all of this?” I mean, rat traps openly exposed, giving our food away so we had to wait for them to remake our order, & then I had to actually walk up to the register to ask for boxes/the check so we could finally leave because the waiter never came back after serving us the food. In my opinion, they should have gone out of their way to remedy the situation from the beginning. I wasn’t looking for a free meal in any way, but an apology & some reassurance about their restaurant would have at least been nice. I will never return here & I highly recommend other people avoid it too, especially if you have children unless you think spending the night in the ER to remove a giant rat trap from your kid’s hand...
Read moreWe had a party of ten and wanted to have a variety of options as many in the party are vegetarians, so we decided on Indian food. This location had the most interesting looking website amongst the six or seven that are all nearby (within half a mile of each other!). Plus, they actually answered the phone when I called!!! So, I made the reservation and we stopped in.
The initial look is not particularly promising as it is in back of another establishment and cannot be seen from Orchard Lake rd. Not only that, but there are signs all over the facade advertising a breakfast place, so I was getting a bit nervous. That is, until I walked in!
First impression was the beautiful decor. There is a large glass wall separating one dining area from the other. It has water in it with a bubble machine and inserts so that the bubbles form geometric design. Lighted from below change colors to add to the look (see photo). Next good sign was that they were ready for us and immediately took us to our table. Final good first sign was that we were the ONLY Caucasian group in the place!!! :-)
It took a bit to get our orders together as it turned out that most of the people in our party actually had never done much with Indian cuisine, but the waiters were patient and we eventually got there. I was happy to see the wide variety of dishes so that both my vegetarian and non-vegetarian folks could get what they wanted.
When the food arrived ... wow!!! All the right flavors, amped up. There were all the spices you expect to come together in Indian dishes and then some. I was very impressed and enjoyed things immensely. My heat tolerance level is pretty high but many in the group are not fans of spicy food. We ordered everything at the medium level, and when it came, it was too much for some of the people. The excellent Mango and especially the Sweet Lassi saved the day.
As we ate, I was monitoring who came in, and by the time we were done, the place was almost completely full. Aside for us, there were probably two dozen parties in this large place. Only us, and two other parties were not of Indian origin. This - to me - is an excellent indicator of the quality of the food - in addition to my own experiences.
Overall, this was a very highly enjoyable dinner and I would really like to come back to enjoy more of...
Read moreI and group of friends ( group of 5 people) reached the restaurant around 9pm. It wasn’t our first time here either. To our surprise all the tables were dirty and not cleaned. We requested the staff to clean a table and they did after like 5mins of waiting. So we were ready to place our order by 9:10pm. The server( his name is kishan if I’m not wrong) you see in the video was ready to take our order. As we were giving our order to him we requested for extra chilies to make it extra spicy as we are Indian, he immediately says that it’s closing time and if he puts in a special request the chef’s gonna get angry and throw utensils at him. We were like ok and gave the rest of the order, as we’re done placing the order he says that we ordered only two main course items and he can’t take any order after this ( the time is still 9:15pm and we know that their kitchen closes at 9:45pm) so I requested him to call his manager so that I can have a word, he says that manager isn’t available. Then I requested him to hand our table over to another staff member as this guy didn’t want to work for the customers nor was he speaking politely. He denied my request and asked me why I gave him the same reason and he didn’t have an answer for me and started arguing with me. I asked my group to get up and walk out. Since there was no manger I walked to the bartender who was an elderly guy who told me that he’s been facing the same type of behavior from this guy for a long time. By now the chef walks out hears to my side of the argument and tells me that I would be happy to make the food however we wanted and he preferred our taste too. But since we were ready to leave I apologize to the chef and was walking out when he was the entrance mumbling bad words in Telugu to himself. When I heard this I reciprocated with one single word in telugu and he walks out behind me saying pallu ralthayi ra ( which translates to him wanting to knock me out. When I started recording the video and he saw me he stopped talking and I put my phone inside and left the place. So, if you can’t employee a person to serve your customers with respect you should not be running the restaurant ( to the owners of the restaurant). PLEASE DONT GO...
