July 3, 2023 - Good special creamed tomato basil soup, wings, and baked stuffed seafood platter. Get the sauce on the side if you order their wings.
Fine dishes for three June 2022.
This dinner for three continued to bring excellent food from the kitchen. All main dishes were from the specials menu: seafood risotto with clams, shrimp, scallops and salmon; Veal Saltimbocca rolled with mozzarella in mushroom Marsala sauce and beef short ribs on mashed potatoes with vegetables. The stuffed mushrooms were full of flavor.
Our booth was in a brightly lit space for those eating pizza and not fine dining. Our server changed as her service was too slow. Cocktails always made well; Beer menu changes.
A second dinner in October brought us outside to the patio as it was a pleasant evening for a post birthday meal for my partner before going to sing karaoke. Prompt service brought us water, table settings and menus. We ordered a cucumber martini and a double Sapphire gin and tonic.
Loved our wait staff Victoria who was very charming and helpful, even allowing me as a local guide to use her phone to take photos of my partner's entrée when my phone died and then emailing them to me. We both chose dishes off the specials menu they looked so wonderful, but the stuffed seafood combination that smelled amazing as it went past us is a future order.
The Pork Osso Buco on risotto with fresh mushroom Marsala sauce was incredible. Every bite was a sensation of flavor. Same for the Shrimp Risotto with a sherry lobster broth and bacon over parmesan risotto. Both were a large portion so we boxed up some to enjoy later. Dinner salads that came with our meals were also a nice size, very fresh and colorful with a variety of ingredients. The Greek dressing with a little feta mixed in and the parmesan peppercorn was quite good.
I couldn't pass on trying the Kook Juice rum cocktail a second time, it's so much fun. George's is a place to return to often.
George's is a favorite of a family member of mine and he drives here to dine in or take-out from a few towns away. I met him here last night to check it out. We chose to sit in the main dining room, but patrons can eat in the bar, which has its own separate entrance next door in adjoining space, or outside on the patio or sidewalk below. All areas were filled up with customers.
We started with two drinks, a cucumber martini with gin and a Myers and coke. My martini had a lovely creative garnish that resembled ribbon candy. The Myers tasted off and we realized later our server thought he said Makers, so it was whiskey not rum.
The ten buffalo wings appetizer came without sauce, but the flavor was so good we didn't care. George's are some of the largest ones I've seen served. Plump and moist with a little crisp to the skin, they come with the option of ten, fifteen or twenty per order.
The broiled seafood platter was worth the price, as it came with a good sized piece of scrod, six large fresh sea scallops and four shrimp. My choice of a baked potato came with a vegetable medley of broccoli, green beans and carrots. Two large house dinner rolls came to our table before the wings arrived.
The medium-sized pepperoni pizza is as big as most places large. Cut tavern style I tried a small corner wedge. Greek style, not too greasy, ample amount of cheese and pepperoni - very satisfying. They have a long list of specialty pizzas, too.
On a second round, I tried the "Kook Juice," a rum cocktail which is very Trader Vic's like in taste, ingredients, presentation and potency. Delicious. A draft City Steam Brass Bonanza was the other beverage. The Oktoberfest was sold out. George's has many special drinks on their menu - almost twenty - which is more fun than six or seven.
Service was attentive. Food variety and kitchen skills above par and drinks from the bar flavorful with good pours. Lots of seating. Takeout is popular here, too. I'm told their grinders are also very good. Happy Hour is 3-6 M-F but only in the bar. I see why he likes George's so much....

Review: I recently had a disappointing experience with George's Pizza in Unionville. While I have had positive experiences in the past, my encounter on Monday, 4/15/2024, at 6:42 pm left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied.
Upon calling to place a takeout order, I was greeted by a disgruntled female employee who seemed uninterested in assisting me. Although I clearly stated that I wanted to place an order for pick up, she initially responded with a generic question about additional items, only to quickly correct herself. This lack of attention to detail was the first indication of a less than satisfactory interaction.
When I proceeded to place my order for a large steak and cheese grinder, I was surprised that the employee did not ask any follow-up questions regarding my preferences. I had to specifically request no onions and the addition of mayo. Sadly, she did not repeat the order back to me, leaving me uncertain if my modifications were acknowledged.
When I inquired if she had correctly taken down my order, her response was dismissive, as if my request was an inconvenience to her. This dismissive attitude left me feeling disrespected as a customer.
I believe that good customer service is essential for any establishment, and this interaction fell short of my expectations. While I have previously had positive experiences with George's Pizza, this particular incident left a sour taste in my mouth.
I hope that George's Pizza management takes this feedback constructively and addresses the issue to ensure that future customers receive the level of service they deserve. It is my sincere hope that this was an isolated incident and that improvements will be made to enhance the overall customer experience.
In conclusion, based on my recent encounter, I cannot recommend George's Pizza in Unionville. I hope this review serves as a helpful insight for others considering dining or ordering from there.

Read moreYour bartender with curly brown hair has an attitude problem. We rented out a space at George’s after my grandmas funeral with an open bar. Me and a few of my family members went to order drinks and the bartender politely asked for a card. We told her it was an open bar and she said she still needed a card, which didn’t make sense to us. I said to her hold on let me go check with my uncle who made the arrangements because I wanted to be sure. I came back and my family had already ordered a round of drinks so I assumed all was taken care of. She brought them their drinks and then I ordered mine. She was visibly annoyed and rude to me. She then proceeded to go to the end of the bar where she talked badly about me to her other patrons. She thought I couldn’t hear but I could, I just took the high road because I had just come from a funeral and didn’t care enough to ask her what her problem was. The only reason for the 2 star rating is because of the other servers in our private room that were really nice and accommodating and more than willing to get us our drinks or anything that we needed.
As the evening ended, but we hadn’t yet closed our tab and my uncle went to order about 8 manhattans in honor of my dead grandmothers favorite drink. And sure enough, he said the bartender was visibly annoyed and really rude to him. Needless to say now that our grandmother that lived in the area has passed, we won’t return and will be sure to tell our friends and family that live in the area the treatment we received. Humble yourselves. If you don’t want to make drinks for your patrons, that elected for an open bar, work somewhere else. Your manhattans were really good, just wish your...
