Restaurant was dated and looked like it hadn’t had a good cleaning since 1992. Bleached out food photos on the menu boards which could barely be seen behind all of the junk and handwritten signs taped up everywhere. $.50 for the 3rd sauce pack, no public restrooms, this that, and more. Two card tables setup with the $.50 fake tattoo cards that could have been bought out of the gum all machine around the corner. CD’s for sale on the second. Chandeliers we’re so covered in grease that they were yellow. I’ve ran restaurants and other retail businesses, and if this were my restaurant, I would have shut it down, had it cleaned and started over, just nasty.
Now the food, every single thing tasted like it was straight from the US Foods/Sysco/PFG budget line frozen foods. Bland with no flavor for one item or just a disgusting flavor for the next. Now, we have eaten at 100’s of Chinese Restaurants across the country, and this experience was in the top 5 of the worst.
If this is Farmville’s only Chinese choice, then we will stick with Japanese at Shogun’s on Main Street on the other side of downtown, or drive to another town. We’ve had better Chinese at ta Mall Food Court or the PF Chang’s from the grocery store.
We should have read the reviews first to see that the ownership refuses to take responsibility for poor service, cleanliness, or food quality by just blaming the customer who writes honest reviews. They really need a training class on “The customer may not always be right but they still are the customers”, that’s straight from Service Industry 101. It’s “make your product perfect so your customers, who keep you in business, are happy”, not “thank those with positive reviews and blame your negative reviews on those customers”. If I ran my businesses that way, they would be out...
Read moreThis restaurant has been changing since 2020. Their options on the buffet have changed a bit. Though the change to the buffet has been good in choices of food, the quality of food is declining. Service has been way better since the new owners have taken over. However, they do not make new food for the buffet past 6pm. In which it would seem to be a bit busier for the dinner crowd if they would have fresh food on the buffet. It is nice that they have updated the restrooms here. The last owners had fishing line attached to a key ring to pull to flush the toilet. They had made some nice improvements. The quality and freshness of food needs to be improved. Also what takes away from this nice restaurant is the hand written signage taped all ove the place. A suggestion would be to type them on a computer and use spell check, then post the signage. I think this restaurant is moving up, it's just taking some time. Looking forward to what is to come. Hopefully with the Mexican restaurant being built next door will bring this restaurant more foot traffic. Keep up the good work. There is no where but up...
Read moreWon't return. Were customers for years under old management. Under new management, ordered online, a large order, almost every Friday night. Last time we paid the upcharge for 2 fried rice and for a lo mein, and got 3 white rice. When I called to see if we could make our usual large order and get the fried rice w/o upcharge and a free lo mein to return us to equal ground, they refused due to how expensive everything is. So that explains why we got the white rice. I don't care how tightly they tie up that bag, CHECK YOUR ORDER before you leave. My money will not go into your till again.
Maybe once it is (once again) under new management...
ETA: In response to your reply, "first of all," your daughter knew exactly who I was and remembered it happening. And secondly, I stand by what I said-- customers should check their bag before they leave. Whether you will take care of it or not, you being wrong is frustrating, especially when it is in your favor and we live so far away (and gas is...
