We placed an order for delivery at 2:55pm through their online ordering menu on the restaurant's website. At 4:25pm I called the restaurant as we had not yet received our food. The girl who answered the phone was extremely rude telling me they had not prepared our food because it had not been paid for. I assured her I paid, had an email receipt, and a debit pending from my bank account. She then wanted me to call back in 2 hours when the manager was on-site. I refused as we work early and had to go to bed at 6pm hence why we ordered our food before 3pm. A young man got on the phone who was more polite and attempted to correct the problem but still wanted me to call back. I once again refused and asked for my food to be made fresh and delivered or a refund. He took down my order again because apparently they didn't have it documented which I'm still confused about. They were just going to deliver our almost 2 hour old food. I wish that was the end.
When we finally received our food, our order was incorrect. We were shorted a taco, the 2 carne asada tacos came as ground beef, the beef chunks quesadilla came with ground beef as well, and I'm pretty sure the nachos were not remade as the tortilla chips were already soggy. We only live 5 minutes from the restaurant so they should not have been that soggy. I'm very disappointed in the food and the customer service. I would request a refund for the food we didn't receive and for the errors but I would prefer not to deal with the rude girl again...
Read moreWell, my wife and I are always looking for good restaurants on the west side of Knoxville. My wife found this place on her Nextdoor app. After reading the reviews (most were 4-5 star on Google and others) we thought we might go there for lunch to check it out. So today we went. But when we parked and walked up, it looked closed. They had all the lights in the front of the store off for energy savings? I'm not sure what that was all about. Thankfully, they were in fact open, and the lights in the dining area were on!
The atmosphere was simple but clean, and the server friendly and attentive. I ordered 3 tacos carnitas, rice & beans. The carnitas were somewhat dry and a bit chewy, but tasted good once I added a bit of the salsa from the salsa bar. However, I should mention that although the salsa bar is a nice touch, there were several selections empty and not being refilled.
My wife the #2 lunch special (a chicken taco, cheese enchilada, and toastada) but complained to me that taco and toastada were a bit soggy, but did taste good.
I'm giving them 3 stars because even though our food was decent, it wasn't outstanding. Let me again stress that it wasn't a horrible meal by any means. But I've had better food at our new favorite texmex restaurant "Rosarito's" on Lovell between Turkey Creek and Kingston Pike on the north side of the street. And the prices are comparable. And Rosarito's has a liquor license. Potrillos only has beer and...
Read moreThis is my favorite Mexican place in Knoxville. We always get the cauldron of joy/meat to share (okay, that’s just what I call it, it’s actually called the Molcajete).
My kids like to make their own quesadillas so I just get them cheese and tortillas and they love building their own (they are 4&6) like mommy and daddy do with their meat cauldron putting together meat, vegetables and beans and rice to make delicious little fajitas that are joy in my face.
Everything tastes so fresh and comes out piping hot... and they bring it out as soon as it’s done so for those hungry people who are boarder like hangry like I was last night, it was perfect.
We usually get ice cream too but we had dessert to eat at home this time. Next time! They have lots of flavors and our kids love picking out their favorite.
This is the most authentic tasting Mexican food I’ve had in Knoxville and it...
