Kindness Heals
Eastbound on MLK, I drove to the Chick-fil-A drive thru entrance. The parking lot was almost full, but I had enough room to pull into the parking lot and out of traffic.
As expected, the double drive thru lanes had vehicles moving along at a typical, speedy Chick-fil-A drive thru rate. Shortly after entering the lane, I was already at the menu and speaker box. I promptly greeted them (greeting them before they can greet me, always catches them off guard 😆😊), which resulted in Bonnie getting off the typical script (*I enjoy the live-televised version of impromptu improv😋😜🤓).
I spoke in rhyme. It happens all the time. But Bonnie couldn’t hear, the poor dear.
So I dialed back the theatrics, ordered, and thanked Bonnie for their patience. They made a quip, and it made me smile.
Ya see, I’m grieving… and in these forlorned depths of despair, I haven’t smiled much, or even come up for air. So when Bonnie there, had me smiling, it literally brought me to tears. Their kindness made me feel seen, important, and heard (ironic with their hard to hear headset 🤔).
Pulling around, I asked “where Bonnie was”, and Bonnie popped their head out to greet me in person (yeaaa bonus greeting). I told them “Thank you for making me smile. You made my day.” They reciprocated the sentiment and we parted.
So here’s the deal:
Chick-fil-A staffs enough ppl in their store so that they are HIGHLY EFFICIENT.
Politics and all arguments aside, when I felt terrible, I chose Chick-fil-A.
The food is CONSISTENTLY delicious. The quality is always high. No random charges for condiments. Fantastic people serving the fastest food (and serving up happiness). Quick to rectify issues.
FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED...
Read moreI love Chick-fil-A and I love that they are a Christian franchise but I would give this location 0 stars if I could. My daughter and me placed a Doordash order today. We were reassigned many dashers over the course of an hour and received messages from all dashers that our order was still being prepared and gonna be longer than expected so each dasher didn't want to wait. The last dasher said that the restaurant said their card reader was having problems with reading our card but the money had already been removed from the account and door dash assigned a new dasher so it didn't make sense. We called Chick-fil-A, was repeatedly hung up on, and when we were finally able to speak to someone, we were told a few lies (first we were told that they didn't have a door dash order, second we were told that our order was dropped at the wrong address by a dasher even though no one ever picked it up, then was told that our food was sitting there waiting on another dasher and they could remake it since it had been an hour but what happened to the door dasher already picking it up 🤔, last that our money might still be pending). It seemed as if they wanted to play a blame game instead of admitting to their mistake. Not very Christian like if you ask me. Then Chick-fil-A canceled our order. I will not ever be going back to that location and I am on the fence about ever going to any other location if they allow their workers to blame dashers and customers for their mistakes. I would've been understanding if we hadn't have...
Read moreIn general I really like Chic-Fil-A, and my daughter loves to go play here. That’s why we dine-in most times. I came to dine-in with my daughter so she could play after we ate, and they had blocked off about a dozen parking spaces to allow for a second drive-through lane. The driver of this is more customers and more money, of course, which I think is great, except that I was rudely told I couldn’t park anywhere and given no alternatives. I suggested pulling up along the curbside, sideways where I wouldn’t even come close to impeding traffic, and I was told no. The staff member outside told me to drive around because there were two spots in front. I did immediately, and there were no spots still, and when I asked where I was supposed to park, she just looked at me. I said, “I guess I’ll just go since I can’t park anywhere,” and she just continued to not say anything, or suggest an alternative, or apologize. I spoke calmly through the entire experience, but when I left I was thoroughly in disbelief at having been treated like little more...
